AuthorMod salaries -Fair?
"Received 150000 Gold from Empire: Salary: August, September, October"

Saw one mostly inactive mod get this bag of 150k. For what? Why not give it to the most active players? To the new players or the poorest players? This kind of gold would make a tremendous difference for a newbie. We've all been there, you know it.

To me this looks like a scheme of making the rich even richer. Sometimes I wanna give my gold away to the struggling players who cannot donate for gold. Should the Empire do more? I don't suppose anything will change but what are the thoughts from non-mod players -do you deem it fair?

I support higher wages for me :pp
For reference, If I played ST and won first place as barb, I would only get somewhere between 11k to 14k. The 50k every month for just barely lurking on forums is absurd.
The mod salaries have stayed the same over the years and there used to be a lot moderation required back in the day. I see no problem with mods getting in game gold to help make the community better but some of the mods are inactive/do nothing.

Now there are like 20 forum posts per day it does seem a bit extreme.
I cannot say I completely agree with this post as I believe it is important to pay enough to the moderators to maintain a good environment on forums

On other hand, I completely agree with this, this is extremely low considering the efforts you have to put to win a gold in ST with so many players involved
I completely understand your point; however, this is something that has been going on for years and unfortunately won't change easily. There are several accounts that are nearly inactive themselves but still continue to receive their payments.
I agree it is disproportionate, though feel that the gold going to fairly inactive mods is counter intuitively not much of an issue. Since they are inactive, the gold that is given to them, does not enter the economy, so only becomes a problem were they to become active again and spend it. In fairness even then this is unlikely to be something that imbalances the economy.

So while I agree in principle it is reasonable to have them salaried with in game gold, yet also agree that 50k seems rather a lot per month considering the level of activity required, I do not feel that bothered about it.
I do not think mods have any reason to work for free. But the amount is the issue. They need an incentive sure, but how much is too much? As Miles said, the inactive ones getting paid do not directly factor into the economy, but that's just the thing. You take a break for a few months, come back and now you have 150k to 200k gold on your account. The rest of us, how many enrolls it takes to get that amount? Especially those at lower LG levels. I frequently am matched with players in CG who have no gold reserves but keep donating diamonds to get enough gold play CG. They love the PVP in this game but are too broke for it. I'm not saying this nilly wily, will share some examples from recent battles soon. Some very capable players among us who would love to have the free 50k per month, but will they be given any opportunity to do so? The mod selection process is cryptic and not at all transparent to the players.

Arcanide, I'm sorry to say this but how are you getting 100k?! Spill the beans, if you will. To me, that's another surprise. I thought it was capped at 50k per month, but apparently not.
You just need to know the right people, apparently
The mod selection process is cryptic and not at all transparent to the players.
This has bothered me in the past. There was a time I wanted to be a mod (and I really disliked some existing mods for their over-moderation), but there was no avenue to do so.
Now there are like 20 forum posts per day it does seem a bit extreme.
I don't think it is as big a problem as supposed 'news translators' get, most of the times the news translation seems like a Google Translated thing anyway. Not to mention how late we get every announcement (I guess that's totally in admin's hands though). So giving them 100k gold/month to Google Translate 3-4 news items a month is a bit too extreme in my opinion.
Mods on the other hand get 50k/month, might be controversial but it is what it is. No one would want to work for free but again, not much activity and hence not much work.
So giving them 100k gold/month to Google Translate 3-4 news items a month is a bit too extreme in my opinion.

Ah yes makes sense for it being too much. I mean 100k is just 800 rubles in diamonds aka 7,5eur for more than 4 hours of work a month most of the time in a rush.

I'd love getting feedback on translations if you find the news like a google translated thing anyway :p

Well if you want to look at it that way then sure it would always come out for a petty amount.

If you look at it from the point of view of game standards it is a lot, that's like 200 enrolls at LG 10. You could buy a whole Shop Arts set for 100k to do WG daily with that.

Well, for starters, a lot of creature abilities haven't been translated. Or they have been translated very poorly to make it really confusing. Some creatures have the same name too. Sometimes event news is confusing to the extent it is edited again after a while
why do we care how much they make? is it jealousy because you arent getting it? i garentee if OP was the one getting 150k a month he wouldnt be bringing this up.

i garentee some of you would say the same about certain real life jobs. for instance in different parts of america the same job pays vastly different amounts of money. in some states a carpenter can make like 30-35$ an hour and in others they can make 2-2.5x that amount. is that fair? real world is never fair, you just have to know how to exploit the system to be the one making 2.5x what others make.

back to my point, why does others success bother some people??!
for Hapkoman:
We love the translators here. You guys do a good job. But Google Translate is only one layer. Add further AI tools to refine and proofread, and it gets much easier. I have a friend who does translating, not this game but it includes Russian too. He makes little edits here and there for more polish. It is not a time-consuming process anymore with all the tools available.

I have a question for you though. How did you get to be a translator? Did they ask players to apply for it? If so, where? I can send many more players your way who would be interested in doing that work for the hefty salary. The opportunities are hidden from most, that's why it unfair. If our beautiful Empress is handing out jobs and salaries like these, the process should be more transparent, and everyone should be capable of applying. Don't you agree?
Well if you want to look at it that way then sure it would always come out for a petty amount.
I look at it that way because it's not time spent for some personal goal but literally almost like work xD

Well, for starters, a lot of creature abilities haven't been translated
Like which ones? Usually if a new one is out it takes a while because admins need to add in the translation after which can take a few weeks. If any are still missing I'd love to know I've been sending them over and they've been filled as far as I know. Maybe some slipped by due to no structure for us to actually bring these changes forward xd

Or they have been translated very poorly to make it really confusing.
Agree some translations are old and poor but it's not like we are translating them all the time nor does the russian version make much sense either xD (they prefer keeping it as close to it as possible but we've had some liberties on them)
Some ability descriptions have already been changed as we get to know their inaccuracies. E.g. today sent an updated version of the Poisoning ability as ProZyk brought to our attention that it is not in fact elemental earth damage that is done. Idk when admins will update it tho.

Some creatures have the same name too.
Like?

Sometimes event news is confusing to the extent it is edited again after a while
This happens on ru and usually admins edit news there while here we have to repost due to permissions/authorizations. Additionally only Lexa can do it so if he is not around it sucks :(

I don't mind sharing more about the processes, they're quite crap
i garentee if OP was the one getting 150k a month he wouldnt be bringing this up.

Funny you say that. I am sitting with millions on account. With an estate full of arts alongside a personal inventory of 7-10 full sets of donation arts I use. I will never be able to spend the gold I have with the way I play.

Also, another funny bit for you. I used to be a salaried moderator and I quit it voluntarily. Why? Because I realized this game already has a very mature player base, excluding a few ofcourse as you proved, so you see there was not much point in my job. I consider myself a man of ethics. Not an idiot you can speak to however you wish. So you will talk respectfully, or I will ignore you henceforth. I do hope that is enough evidence for you to not point those fingers at me? To have a discussion about fairness is not the same as being jealous. Why did you appear to give "garentees" here idk, but would be rather nice if you managed to keep it civil.
But Google Translate is only one layer. Add further AI tools to refine and proofread, and it gets much easier.
Idk I translate what I get and if stuck use Google translate to give some version of what is written. Maybe if I incorporate some ai checker it might make it easier, but we got editors who also check and change the text to make it more internationally friendly. I.e. sometimes simplifying the language.

I have a question for you though. How did you get to be a translator?
Arcanide I think asked in the AK chat and I found out about it somehow. Don't remember exactly now.
Yeah I'd love more transparency but that's just the way the admins work on ru and com. It sucks
The answer is nepotism
