I studied French when I was at school, and then taught myself a bit of Spanish when I went travelling. I found spanish much easier to pick up and more intuitive, and there are more countries where speaking Spanish has a benefit than French. To me the language itself is the less interesting thing, or rather if you like looking into etymology I would imagine all languages hold fairly equal interest. What is interesting is the options that languages offer, learn a language, go to the country and speak to people of that language. People are always more interesting, and the language more interesting when spoken by a native. |
