The first ones to charge through a new level do 25% extra damage.
As more people clear the level, this bonus reduces to 0.

I think the current system of events is great. Everybody faces the same opponent and every battle is doable. But a major downside is how everyone now waits for the last day to play the event, to copy battle strategies.
Most other games you play generally don't encourage copying others. While collaboration is great, I think a mechanic that encourages going in blind should be in place.

This could be framed as "Abu Bakr Blessing" to the courageous warrior.
Or
Enemy gets 10% stronger every day after day 5.
Or
It can be made faction specific so that first 100 clears for every level/faction combination are easier. This would encourage more diversity of thought in the event. |
Nice idea

But what if people genuinely don't have time to play the event in the early days of the event? Sounds unfair to make the event difficult for them. |

Making different enemies for everyone would be practically impossible to maintain similar difficulty level throughout, since this cant be done, the proposed idea seems like logical move!
Also some kind of randomization can be added..like change in position of opponents, change in recruit counts, so that people dont copy exact whole battle step by step at the very least. |
the basic idea isn't that wrong, but you normaly will not be able to copy battles step by step. Especially in leader events, even if you use exactly the same troops, the same army setup on battlefield, all can be over, just if the initiative of 1 or 2 units is changed from the start.
And in events like this it is seldom possible to copy battles, because evreyone distributes his points in different ways.
But to be honest, it is always an advantage to see, which enemy setup awaits you, where you can build a own strategy how to beat him. |

#6: If you get first to clear lvl 100, you will still remain #1 even if 200 others clear that level. Its only when they get higher that they can pass you.
Do not see what is wrong with that.
But for the other part, yeah some new change could be more fun. |

I think the people who go in blind and clear 100 deserve more rewards than those who copy fights on last day, since they would have to waste attempts trying different strategies.
Since that is hard to implement, my alternative is to make it easier for those who go in earlier. |
Perhaps additional gold or seperate reward for the vanguard not additional damage.
Already people wait at midnight and rush in an attempt to get better side of AI (it tend to change behaviour after some fights) / exploit bugs first hand / suffer from the balancing issues. |
I'm assuming events are balanced around each variable like combat level, talents, stats, etc. I don't play many events myself so can't say if every event is doable 100% to the end for most players, but if this idea is implemented, it definitely will ruin the event difficulty further because admins would need to factor in this courage bonus. In essence, what you're asking is for events to become easier for the early players due to added bonuses OR more difficult for the later participants due to the penalty. Neither of those things is desirable for a game if you ask me. I don't want to see new and inexperienced players not being able to enjoy events just because they didn't start the event early or wanted to play at a different time. Most people I have met in this game also have a real life and things to do outside of the game. Your suggestion looks rather self-serving when we take a look at your combat log.
Admins have already made it impossible to directly stalk other people's battles which I think is sufficient. If someone is copying, it is because they are being given the chance to copy. The source is always the player who cleared the event and wants to share the strategy. I find that completely acceptable. |
I only expect these rules to apply to levels 70-100 or so. New players aren't playing those anyway. |

I like this idea better. |
As much as I hate copycats getting top ranks playing on the last day itself, there is absolutely no way to create events or separate out rewards on the basis of who plays first and who plays last, or who copies and who doesn't.
Everyone has different time zones, as much as extra rewards and dealing extra damage sounds nice for first comers, it is a really big disadvantage for those of us for whom the day resets at odd hours. A russian guy sitting at his computer, drinking beer and starting the newly unlocked levels may have a better time doing it than someone for whom the game's day resets at say 5 am in his country. He may/may not be copying battles, but he'll definitely not be able to get those extra rewards.
And as far as the events are concerned, it is more enjoyable to go in blind for the fun and thrill of it. Don't get me wrong, many here might play to get more gold out of events, I like the fun part. |
