There is a new option to transfer artifacts (in Russian, only appears for items at 0/X durability). If I got it right it allows to transfer items along with gold for a smith (you can specify repair price %).
Here is the result when sending for 101% repair price:

Only thing I can think to be careful of is that the gold doesn;t come out of your account until they have accepted it. Therefore you need to make sure you keep enough back for it otherwise I presume they will not be able to take it. |

| for Santremus: No money goes out until the art is taken by the smith, it shows the same amount of gold. So no escrow. |
