Author | Auto Battle |
If the "auto" option becomes available, it should designate whose favor the option resides in. I lost a battle today because I selected auto battle option and the AI acted stupidly. The battle was heavily in my favor, in my opinion, so it looked like an easy end to the battle. The AI control did not let my fiends leap when they should have, and it caused me to lose the battle with 1 enemy unit left. Here's the battle in case anyone is curious:

It happens a lot with/against Demons n Necros.
You know, years pass and I still don't know what Auto really means.
It means "You are LIKELY to win, so press to have AI play for you"? I honestly don't know.
In some games, when they ask you to Auto, it decides the outcome right at the beginning.
In here, AI takes your place, and does what it thinks it's best, thinking that chances are "High" that it will win, but it doesn't mean it'll 100% win.
Regarding "It should show who it favors", I think there's no need, since often it's "Obvious" who it favors (Example: UN left with 1 Zombie but full Mana/Demon left with 1 Spawn but many Gated monsters).
I think it's more a problem of "Make AI even better", but I always say it is too difficult to make a computer understand the "Human ways/behaviour" (Example: Stand in corpse, learn positioning and stalling, ATB changes with Hero ...).
Tl/Dr: The thing here is that Auto does not Automatically win, but TRIES to win instead.
Auto option being up just means it is "Likely" to win. | Btw sorry, watched the battle now.
It is very very weird that Fiends did not choose to Leap against Poisoners.
no idea what AI was thinking there. | Instead of making such complications, just use better judgement better to or not to use auto.
Although that move from fiends was strange.
Didn't leap on first turn, while leaped on second turn. Seems like AI wanted you too lose :P | It is very very weird that Fiends did not choose to Leap against Poisoners.

Yeah I thought it was obviously in my favor, which is why I thought I could let it go ahead, but guess who learned a valuable lesson :) | Never give control to AI against Necros, Demons and Mage Caravans!
Also my troops behave weird around Veterans! They take maximum possible steps before attacking them! | if i remember right, auto button becomes available when the difference in troops is something in the 80/20% ratio. It doesn't mean that you can win, just that the battle is drawing to an end.
And it is very possible to defeat an enemy with a lot of troops using just one half surviving stack, as long as the other plays stupidly.
Only click on auto when you know that it can't be lost ;) |
