Several questions and totally serious, I ve been wondering about them for so long, and here they go:
1. - Lets say a Patriarch stack uses a Stun Rune, does the Stun Rune affect ALL creatures hit, or only the one you click on (Like Lich Shot)?
If yes, the Stun chance is calculated separately for every unit in the Cross Attack right (Coz different Hp)?
- Also, for Judgement the same?
2. - Lets say there is a Ghost in the tile "1.2", and there is a unit behind it (Tile "1.1"), and a Dreadbane stack hit the Ghost but it Misses, does the Thunder connect to the unit that was behind the Ghost, or not because it was a Miss?
- Also, is it true that Dreadbanes make double the damage on the original creature than to the others the Thunder travels to? Or same Dmg to all?
3. Does Soldier of Luck Talent DOUBLE (x2!) the chances of Mayheymm and any stuff like that? The description in the Talent is very very vague and lazy.
I've heard its literally like "Throwing the Dice again", which implies a "x2" (Double) in my understandings, but IDK, and this doesnt get revealed in the About the Game section either (Lack of information).
4. - Lets say there is a stack of Berzerks in a random place in the map. And there are 2 stacks from the opponent team close to it.
One its 2 tiles LEFT to the Berzerk stack, and the other 2 tiles RIGHT to the Berzerk man.
... Then Dwarf players selects "Madness", can he actually choose/control which stack the attack goes to, or totally random?
I ask because I ve seen myself in that situation very often (As the opponent), and I dont know if he can control who to attack.
- Similar situation but for Dread Banes: There is a random stack of fat Dreadbanes in the battleground, and 3 opponent stacks.
The stacks are in "1.1", "2.2", and "3.1" (One in front, and others behind it in the diagonal line, IDK if I explained myself well, I hope I did).
The Dread God attacks the stack in "2.2" because he cant reach the ones in the back to make sure they all get hit.
You know the Thunder Clap cant travel backwards, so only 2 of the 3 stacks will get hit.
The question is: Can he control where the Thunder Clap travels to? Like when you control "Dragon Breath" Skill (With direction of Mouse)?
5. - More of an opinion: Why nobody plays Chaos Dwarf in PvP (I personally havent seen a Magick CHAOS Dwarf yet, I've seen Holy).
Patriarchs can perfectly setup a Judgement, to make you throw a powerful Fireball.
+ All of his units are beyond resilient/big.
- I would ask why nobody picks Upgraded Tier 1 and whether they are viable in some situations, but the answer is very obvious I guess.
Maybe till they get a Rework/Hard Buff, like Alt Lizards.
Ty in advance!
PS: I dont ask because Im terribly bored, it might seem))))))) | 2. If the first target was a miss it won't hit anything else.
Yes, first target receives double damage (damage from the regular attack + damage from retribution strike)
3. Yes that's correct.
5. I saw many high level chaos dwarves in blindfold tourneys. That's also the only time I see the upg. tier 1 in use. But in other PvP it's pretty weak, I mean chaos magic talents cost 11 points and no sorcery or erudition talents available. | 3. let say you have 25% to trigger mayhem. With soldier luck if the first hit don't proc mayhem, it will re roll again. the chance you dont proc mayhem with 2 roll is 75% * 75% = 56.25% so your chance to mayhem with soldier luck is 100%-56.25% = 43.75% | 1 AFAIK only central target is stunned (eventually). consider the rest as "collateral" damage.
4 it goes clockwise, from top, so it will be the stack on the right.
- For dreadbane to hit the wanted 2nd target, you need to position it diagonally (top left tile is the one that actually matter) to that target.
5 lower level dwarf don't choose chaos because the hero has no sorcery talents, and chaos is the most expensive talent school. So not worthy, you'll kill one stack while opponent brings havoc on all of yours.
Chaos school for dwarf was designed to be available for higher levels, when you can waste some 22 TP on it and use as an add-on to your other physical attacks. | 1. Only the target is stunned. Rest aren't.
2. Not very sure but i think the retribution strike will pass along even if you miss (based on memory).
- For dreadbane to hit the wanted 2nd target, you need to position it diagonally (top left tile is the one that actually matter) to that target.
it doesnt matter where you hit from. This isn't a one two tile effect like dragon breath.
3.let say you have 25% to trigger mayhem. With soldier luck if the first hit don't proc mayhem, it will re roll again. the chance you dont proc mayhem with 2 roll is 75% * 75% = 56.25% so your chance to mayhem with soldier luck is 100%-56.25% = 43.75%
4. No there is no choice given to player. These type of things depend on game code which could be like guyb said. Only testing will tell.
5. Tankiness alone isn't enough to justify mage build. Even if the troops are inherently tanky, putting stats into knowledge and sp means less defense and they have no sorcery talents to keep up with the efficiency of other builds. Anyway, i feel like rune magic barely has any synchronization with chaos build. Perhaps the resurrection and intangibility would help a bit but it seems to me like dwarves would make more use of holy build than chaos:p | it doesnt matter where you hit from. This isn't a one two tile effect like dragon breath.
I disagree, it does matter where you hit from as well as where you are coming from. Been playing Dwarf for a while, now. | for guyb:
Okay so i guess this becomes my question- are you saying that dreadbanes retribution won't affect another enemy unit standing next to the target unless it has been attacked diagonally? | no, i'm just explaining how to pilot the direction of the following strikes in the example given in post 1, that is, having the 3 targets in a > position and dreadbanes coming from front. In that case, if you want to hit 1.1 target you need to position top left tile of DB in 3.3, and since you can't position below 2.3, if you get there it will dépends wheter you are coming from straight upfront or another direction if you hit 3.1 or not. | for guyb:
What? so it isn't random... many times i have seen high level dwarves' invokers/dreadbanes hitting all the wrong units. Its hard to believe that a fair number of them (level 16 dwarves) wouldn't know of this. | Pretty sure it's random | ...
Ok, i'm going to make a demonstration. After that, not keeping up the discussion.
These 3 fights were done in an "army" quest, so position of troops remains the same.
in the first battle, i went straight forward and hit "diagonally" (because i was not in front of the large creatures) toward top:

Second battle, i move DB further up (notice, they are coming from bottom, BUT there is no doubt about the path, so information is not relevant this time); this time the hit goes the other way:
https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?lt=-1&warid=794892401
Third battle, to confirm, i move in front of the target that has a unit beside it (actually one tile above just to make sure).
The usual clockwork mechanism would force the lightnin to go up (from demons to wolfs) BUT because as i said, the positon matters, it will go instead toward the bottom:

Interesting enough, in battle 2 you can see an example of the clockwork mechanism i explained in post 4 (answering question 4): berserk are at same distance from 2 targets. Large creatures in this case count for all tiles, not just top left. So Berserk goes for the nearest starting from top and going clockwise: it will hit horses (where many people would expect them to hit the wolfs).
If this does not convince you, i can't help. | btw, in another battle yesterday i could test the "ghost" question and i can confirm that the hit will pass to the next target even if there's a miss. | I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong.
Thank you for the info. :) |
