Why is that?
Its been a lot of time since I saw a Demon.
I havent seen one in Hunt Assists nor in GBs for weeks IIRC.
There are worse Factions at Hunts AND PvP, so I dont know why is this.
And its the Faction with biggest number of Talent Builds, and lot of fun to play.
I remember reading somewhere that around 3-5% of players are Demon, but I dont believe it Tbh, I think its way less. |
Looking at the list of people in A&D and their current faction, there is a decent proportion of them who are demons. |
Faction Statistics
Knights 11.2%
Necromancers 9.0%
Wizards 7.6%
Elves 19.7%
Barbarians 8.7%
Dark elves 22.3%
Demons 5.2%
Dwarves 8.8%
Tribals 7.4%
And a small correction, demons have 6 sectors in their talent wheel, while Elves and Dark Elves have 7 sectors. |
Red Demon takes the most brains to play with. One mistake and you lose the battle. Hence less number of players prefer to play it. To the contrary Elf & DE are very easy to play with. Hence the high number of players.
But in all honesty, Defense Red Demon and Mage Red Demon is absolutely amazing at PvP after level 17 when you get Arch Devils and can take Multiple Mage oriented Talents. |
And a small correction, demons have 6 sectors in their talent wheel, while Elves and Dark Elves have 7 sectors.
I think he meant talent "builds" and not "sectors. What he meant was probably that demon is very versatile and can be a very interesting strategic faction, especially if you count DD.
I honestly have no clue, it is a pretty decent faction and yet by far the least played, even after having its own insight tournament. |
I just love my demaon faction... but now that alt DE was released, i will stay DE for a while |
To the contrary Elf & DE are very easy to play with. Hence the high number of players.
DE has no ranged attackers to speak of. Is that what you call easy? Perhaps you're confusing DE with zap-zappers. |
for SirReal:
Yes but having ranged creatures doesn't make them "easy" to play necessarily. I think I agree with AKA that Dark Elves are easy to play - There is less tactical options with them than there are demons (or necromancers). When I play Dark Elf, I find I don't have to think as much as I would when I had to play demon. |
I play demon ;d
Red demon is average in almost everything, bad in pvp against "tanky" factions and not bad in ambushes.
And they are most fragile faction in game, also base att/def for first 4 tiers of units are just horrible, T4 mistresses have only 6 att and 6 def ;d |
And they are most fragile faction in game
No way, I thought we elves ruled that category since the dawn of time xD |
for randomr1:
We may be very fragile but we have on average the highest INI among our troops |
I have demon castle up to CL 13, I play that faction just for fun because like you said it is rare. |
A key problem is that No demonic build can beat all factions in PvP.
Hellfire demon ALWAYS loses to Tamer DE and Battlewizards with golems. Too risky for PvP.
Dark demons are crazy weak against any one who has a mass curse or has troops (archliches) that can cast it.
Classic demon is just bad against tanky factions.
In comparison, An Elf or Dark elf playing in their standard builds have a fair chance against all factions. |
for The One Ring:
True. Same for holy builds of any faction, they almost always are in a disadvantage against dark builds, that's why you don't see them in PvP, especially tournaments. |
I think it is also not justy about winning, there is a selection pressure for those factions or builds that can complete battles faster, therefore allowing more options within the same amount of time in front of a computer.
I spent a lot of time before Battlewise as a classic wiz and they have on average very slow battles, consequently I find a might battlewise better, simply for the speed of play rather than win %. Similarly I recently got classic demon from FL 5 to 6 on easy hunts and MG, and despite there high average ini, the fact that you gate and so have so many stacs, it means that even simple one sided battles can be longer than average.
I think this is part of the reason for the predominance of elves and dark elves, win or lose, its over pretty quick. |

The Biggest Problem is the Build , its a game which people play to relax and have fun . Red Demon is the most interesting faction in the game , mostly due to its ability to cast spell and do melee attack with hellsfire at same turn , but that takes a lot of brain and people dont want that , ELF has argubaly most powerful range troops , thats why everyone loves them (who wont like to sit in a corner and keep hitting while other guy keeps thinking a way to move near) and Dark Elf has those red haired babes with no retalition which is also a no brainer , hydra also doesnt take retaliation hits and lizard cav deals too much damage so noone care about the return damage much. thats why they are everyones Fav. |
