I'm currently Elf LVL 5 and trying to do the campaign "Finding the Healer" - on easy. I was doing the first fights with the minimum AP that were required to begin a fight, but I had no chance.
I collected more gold and now I'm having LVL 5 shop items on mostly all slots and succeeded with two fights. But I only got one step further and now I'm facing even stronger opponents.
I'm asking myself, if the campaign is doable on this level? Any hints? |
There's a similar discussion going on here: https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=2460145
Yes, the campaign is doable on your level in full ap. If you need specific advice please post the links to your battles so that we can point out any mistakes. |
yes, it is doable.
start with beginner level and get good arts + Talents.
after 3 loss, the enemy strength will decrease. |
Sadly no one can provide more detailed hints.
This are the arts I was using:
--
Chain Helmet (LVL5)
Hauberk (LVL5)
Galoshes of battle (LVL5)
Shield of Glory (LVL5)
Sword of Retribution (LVL5)
Ring of Impetuiosity (LVL5)
Ring of ambition (LVL4) - not LVL5 but I wanted something to push attack & defence
Shortbow (LVL4) - not LVL5 but there are no LVL 5 items for this slot, afaik
Hunter pendant (LVL 2) - alternatives are +items with luck or morale, but I think initiative is more important to elves.
---
Troops:
8x Druid
12x Bowman
32x Forst keeper
---
I was fighting the water creatures and hardly killed one stack. The "caster" (don't remember its name) does insane damage and can heal itself.
This caster kill two of my stacks during the first two rounds. Used my Droids on this caster (got them down from 18 to 8, when the Druids ran out of mana).
I don't see any arts or better troops that could give me necessary power to change the outcome of this battle.
I don't think that I'm completely dumb. So what is the trick to win this fight? |
for Xentara:
Do kindly post the link so players may assist you better. Afaik, every campaign battle is winnable regardless of how absurd they look. I've done my fair share of campaign battles and even some battles where I shrub off as unwinnable initially, was won eventually by switching talents, etc though being a lv5, you may not have that luxury.
IMO as a low level elf, one of the most important feature is your luck, so switch that hunter pendant (+1% doesn't really make a difference) with a +1 luck which is highly beneficial.
But anyways, do post the battle link here :) |
Don't know if this works:

for Xentara:
It worked, we can see the replay. Anyways hope this helps, I would put all parameter to attack (not worth it in low levels for max defence) and take basic luck talent. Add the pendant of luck, you'll have a decent 2 luck parameter.
Whereas for recruit, I would go with max druids, then max bowmans and finally FK's. I would use FK's as blockers to prevent the opposition melee attackers from reaching druids/bowman. For settlement, I suggest splitting bowman into 2 stacks and don't split druids.
Use every single shooter you have (including hero attack) on 18 and kill it first, otherwise if you don't, it'll just keep on casting regenerative spells. Use druid to shoot and that should deal some substantial damage and even more if luck triggers. Stay back with FK and don't charge up. You should be able to win it, good luck though :) |

This part of the link means others can view it. :) |
you can use temporal signet ring,so bowman acts before priestess
also you have too much def and no attack |
Thanks for your advice.
I had more attack and less def, but this way my creatures died very early in previous battles of the campaign. Also had more troops in bowmen before, but they died too quickly, so I took more FK.
Seems every battle needs a different setup - both troop and gear wise. Need to save more gold be able to switch between different setups.
Regarding "temporal signet ring" - this is a lvl 8 ring (and costs about 36k gold). Far beyond my lvl and my budget. |
for Xentara:
Hence you should split your bowman in 2 stacks evenly. This way, at least half of them will still be alive, contrast to the battle you posted where majority of your bowman was killed in the 1st turn due to the uneven settlement.. But yes that's the beauty of these campaign battles, in all my past campaign battles, nearly none have I actually use the same recruitment or talents twice in a row.
In respect of arts, as long as you have the best arts of your level, you don't really need to switch that much, maybe just a couple twerks like rings and pendant on the battle. Your core weapons and shield will essentially remain the same.
I believe this is what Fallen Atheros meant:

Although I do not feel this is needed and it's winnable with just normal shop arts. |
for Xentara:
Lesser temporal signet-ring |
Regarding:
"Lesser temporal signet-ring" - way to expensive for me to buy it currently.
Where do such items drop? |
for Xentara:
Just use max attack and take basic fortune instead of basic defense. Elves have low hp, but high speed which means that defensive build isn't the best idea. Stone your forest keepers and you should utilize splitting your druids and elven bowmen as much as you can. Hit those priestess with every shooter, druid and hero. With higher attack and luck, shooting with druids also does decent damage.
Forest keeper can deal with the rest, as long as it has stone skin. |
Did as suggested, but could not kill the priestess until the druids are in close combat. Bowmen are dead because priestess oneshots one stack at each attack.
Used all druid mana on the priestess, because she is the most important damage dealer.
Could kill two enemy stacks, but without ~50% more damage I don't see a way how this could work.
Here is the battle:

Max fks and get min ebs/druids.
Make as many stacks as possible of druids so you will get an optimal light damage, however make 1 stack with at least 2 of them, for stone skins.
Chase the priests with your FK, once you get them, the game is yours.
As mentioned above, put all points into attack and get basic fortune. |
Thanks Angel.
Chasing the priestess with FKs did the trick.

Glad to help.
Here's a few more tips, based on this combat.
1 - You could've put your range units far between them, at 1:1, 1:4, 1:7 and 1:10, this way it would be far more difficult to block your units.
2 - If you had put your fks at 5:9 or 6:9 and killed the myrmidons, it would allow you to strike with your fks on the next turn, instead of having to wait 1 more turn to kill the wall and then get on the good stuff, also myrmidon would take less hits to fall.
Hmm, by the way, if your next opponent don't have a very good range, then split more stacks of druids, for a better light damage output, it does make a different on CL 5 - 6, at 7+ doesn't matter anymore, although stoneskin is always nice. |
