Today the people of Scotland get to vote on leaving the UK and becoming an independent nation once again for the first time in ~300 years!

Personally I hope that the majority vote yes for independence!

So what would your vote be?
Though im no scottish, but im a yes too! Its well known that the rest of UK such as britain have been said to be "taking advantage" of scotland's natural resources. According to news reports, yes seems to have the majority over the past weeks. But tomorrow we'll see..
yes;)
Let them vote for what's most fair.
Unfortunately for you all separatist romantics, it can't be possible.
Scotland's fate is sealed. https://www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=3928616
the Royal Bank of Scotland announced that if the "yes" wins, they'll move to London. some way to put trust on your own, eh?
so much for romantics in corporate finance. another one bites the dust (either way).
Separatists are separatist because they are romantic.
Unionists are unionist because they are pragmatic.

Love is never pragmatic. Don't expect romanticism from the corporate blood suckers money making financialists.
Don't think we need more boarders, so it would be sad.

Think in the end Scotland will lose most if teh vote is an yes, then England then Europe.

You can have your own culture and be part of the UK.
@navi
sadly, the world is run by the corporate blood suckers money making financialists.
you go along, you lose. you fight them, you feel better - but lose just the same.

@Khell
totally agree. europe should stand together as a multitude of peoples and nations, but working as one towards common goals and with a common voice.
Agree with Khellendros. It would be lovely to see continued peace than more borders.
The problem exists because they don't feel any belonging with UK.. or maybe the UK doesn't wanna accept them among themselves. I think Scotland should get separated, that is if it can handle the serparation.
Change is good, but all change is not progressive...
Most of the votes have now been counted and while it is very close it looks as if the NO vote is going to win though both sides have got very close to 50% of the votes.

It has also had a turnout of around 85% of voters!!

I can't remember ever seeing any election in any country with such a high turnout. In last UK wide elections 35-40% was considered good.

The main arguement in favour of independence (and the main reason it was opposed by England) is that Scotland has enormous amounts of Natural Resources, Had has a major surplus in supply of "free" electricty from many wind farms and also some very significant hydro-electric power stations.

It also has a very positive balance exporting a lot more than is imported.

As to Europe the Scottish position has always been very supportive towards involvement in the Europe which is in opposition to feeling south of the border where continued membership is being questioned.

re: Large companies saying they would leave Scotland if a yes vote won. There were just as many companies who publically supported the vote and said the opposite.

As I write this the last votes are coming in and it looks like the final will be:

YES - 47%
NO - 53%

So even though the vote has gone against independence it has still sent a very strong message to the westminster government and it has already been committed to that major changes will result from this.

The other point of interest is that the whole process has been very friendly. Families have been discussing it over dinner and even though often individual have different views there as been no hard feelings either way.

So personally, while I was very hopeful the "yes" vote would have won, I am not disappointed it did not as the people who voted "no" are still my friends and Scotland was a nation before and is still a nation after regardless.

Now we need to see that all the promises which were made if the country voted no are delivered.

Interesting times all round

William wallace died for nothing ... nice job you scottish scots !!
I saw a picture, it was rather hilarious.
It was of william wallace being portayed in braveheart and it had the caption "You will never take our freedom! Because we'll give it to you through voting."
