AuthorDoes a diagonal move count as one step or two steps?
I've always thought a diagonal move was counted as two steps, but this last action of the Hydras (which has speed 5) in the following battle puzzles me. Their last action consists of 3 straight steps and 2 diagonal moves.

Anybody can explain the movement rule to me?
Diagonal move counts as 1.5 steps.
1 diagonal move = 2 steps
2 diagonal moves = 3 steps
3 diagonal moves = 5 steps
4 diagonal moves = 6 steps
5 diagonal moves = 8 steps
and so on
Diagonal move counts not 1.5 but you must use Pythagorean Theorem. if you move one diagonal move it counts as 2^(1/2).
If you move 3 tiles forward and 4 tiles down it counts as (3^2+4^2)^(1/2)=25^(1/2)=5.
speed of the hydra was 6 and no more 5. Keep in ind thqt speed increases :)

Also, Pythagorean Theorem does not apply completely on moving, it applies only on shooters range calculation.

For moving, the method applied is: 1 speed "consuming" to move straight, 1.5 speed "consuming" to move diagonal.

Example :

Bowmen can hit a target with full in-range damage if he is 5 tiles forward and 3 tiles down. Forest Keepers can't move 5 tiles forward and 3 tiles down.
Also, that hydra had speed 6
