Author | Card Tournament brought by Arcomages Training Grounds |
Clan #7652 Arcomages Training Grounds, specifically Sven91 and myself, are proud to deliver a custom card tournament for all Two Towers enthusiasts, the "Extreme Towers".
There are many automatic tournaments happening in taverns every day, so our goal was to make it different from the normal conditions, so that it is some special fun =)
The tournament will be held inside the clan #7652, only among its members. All players who wish to participate but are not members of the clan will need to send an invitation fee of 1,500 gold to Sven91.
After joining, you will automatically be enlisted as participant in the tournament. Any players who are already members of the clan and wish to participate in the tournament need to send a PM to Sven91 until December, 10th.
The prize fund will consist of [Part of invitation fees + 80,000 (my contribution to the fund) + any other volunteer contributions]. Volunteer contributions may be made until December 10th, they should be transferred to Sven91 with a proper comment. The prize fund will be divided into 9 uneven parts for both awarding the top places as well as for some specific achievements in course of certain tournament stages.
The tournament starts on December 11th and will last for a total of up to 10 days, depending on the amount of participants. It will feature two stages: Group stage, followed by Playoff stage. The conditions for each match will be announced in forehand; all details will be given inside clan mail after close to when the tournament begins.
I will keep a live feed of the course of this tournament in this thread. | Alright, this is important.
For anyone who want to join the tournament, after you send the invitation fee, please contact Sven91 with the following:
Which region's conditions you like most (Empire capital = 20 Tower, 5 wall, 2-2-2 sources etc.); which deck you prefer (one or infinite); what is your preferred stake (or a range of them). | Here's the table to look up conditions for taverns of different regions. | https://www.lordswm.com/help.php?section=39 | is not illegAL?
3.23. Any custom combat and card game tournaments with a prize reward and/or a participation fee are forbidden. | It isn't, the rule just got changed today. Compare to the Russian edition of the rules, too. | Thank you for your donation SwitchBlad3 | 1. Any players who are already members of the clan and wish to participate in the tournament need to send a PM to Sven91 until December, 10th.
What about non-members? When is the closing date [not just date but also the time]? 10th Dec, 23:59, server time?
2. The prize fund will be divided into 9 uneven parts for both awarding the top places as well as for some specific achievements in course of certain tournament stages.
How many 'top places' will be awarded prizes? Top 4 [semi-finalists]?
3. Are the actual timing for the matches fixed or is it flexible? And what if one misses/can't make it at the per-arranged time for the scheduled match?
Asking this coz many players log in/plays at different times. | 1. Yes. The tournament enlisting closes on December 10, 23:59 for everyone.
2-3. Refer to my next post. | in clan it is written players with GG 5 or higher can join
im GG 2 , so i cant join? :P | I'm glad to bring you the Tournament agenda! I am still developing the last, Playoff stage agenda, but everything else is ready to take a look at and start preparing.
Will you play for a quick win, or extend your game to attempt at getting the pot? Do you have what it takes to control the game table to ensure both? Are you extreme enough to champion the Extreme towers? *Dramatic music, epic screen* Extreme Towers, live on December 11th in LWM!
0. Tournament terms.
Stage - one of the two main parts of the tournament, Group stage and Playoff stage.
Match - a series of games during the Group stage between two opponents. Players will play several matches with different opponents to earn points.
Round - a series of one or more games during the Playoff stage, e. g. 1/16 finals.
Game - one card game between players that ends as usual with someone building a huge tower, collecting a heap of resources or demolishing enemy tower. All matches and two rounds will consist of more than one game.
I. Points of notice.
1) Please note that after the tournament period starts, the first game with your supposed opponent will be counted as a tournament game (except for cases when the two accidentally face each other in a regular card tournament). This means three things:
-Please check, preferably in advance, who your nearest opponents are.
-Make sure you are well prepared when you play your tournament games, including having enough time, good connection etc. There will be no replays!
-There is no need to wait for any specific time or until the end of a match/round; as long as both players know they will be playing each other in the next match/round and are ready, they may play their game straight away. The Umpire will check through your game logs himself and detect all relevant results.
2) Golden cards are entirely up to the players. You may buy golden cards to improve your chances, or play hardcore :-)
3) The total prize fund will be split into eight parts:
1st place - 42%
2nd place - 21%
3rd place - 11%
4th place - 6%
Sleight pots - 4 pots of 5% each.
Sleight pots are special prizes awarded for topping secondary conditions during the playoff stage. One pot will be awarded after each of the first four playoff rounds. Competing for the Sleight pots will involve risk.
4) This time, Arctic is the tournament umpire. Should there be any argued cases in course of the tournament, his decisions will be final and not subject to debate.
II. Group stage.
There will be X groups of 3-4 players in each. Inside every group, each player must play a match with each other group member. Each match is played in the following way:
The player whose name is higher in the group list creates a challenge with his or her preferred conditions. By default, it is the location and deck type of a player's preference listed in the clan information page as the player status, but the player may host an actual game with any conditions he or she feels like. Default stake size is 0, it may be set to any size both players agree on.
Then the other player in the match hosts a match on his or her conditions. Players take turns hosting their games, until any player has won 2 games in a row. That player wins the match.
If a player wins a match in just 2 games, he or she gets 2 points, else the winner gets 1 point. The loser of a match gets no points.
By the end of the group stage, the player with least points in each group drops out of the tournament. In cases when players tie on points, the one with fewer total games played has an advantage. The top two players from all groups move on to the playoff stage. Players from 4-men groups who scored third might need to play extra games depending on the total number of players.
III. Playoff stage.
<In development> | for z E o:
For the duration of enlisting for this tournament, any player of combat level 3+ may join. In fact, players with lower GG levels may be at somewhat of an advantage occasionally. | How i participate? And when is going to happen? | The enlisting will last until December, 10, 23:59. The tournament should start at some point on December 11, when all the preparations are over.
Please check post 1 of this topic for details about enlisting. You will need to join the LWM Arcomage club, "Arcomages Training Grounds" clan to take part in the tournament.
A little anticipating, I'd like to announce that after the tournament is over, it is not a full stop =) I've got some ideas about making more interesting things for the club to enjoy; among other, to introduce a rating system (elo-type). That's the main reason why I made entering the clan a requirement to join this first big tournament. | hi all, i sent a message within EFL so hopefully some of us will join. if not then only i will represent EFL :D | Eagerly anticipating and awaiting information on what "Extreme" entails - do we play butt naked in the snow, or with hands tied behind our backs, or blindfolded, etc. | Something like that =P You'll see.
Here is a web document with current tournament situation, you can check current prize and enlisted players with their GGs there.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Anb9cOtFF8CFdEFSSnJyQ3haeHQ0R2JraDZjOVVDdmc
The enlisting ends tonight server time. Make sure you fit in time to enlist if you wish to participate.
I will be making further announcements inside the Arcomages Training Grounds clan via clan mail. | Here comes the final part!
III. Playoff stage.
Playoff games will happen in preset locations with preset conditions. Each round up to the Final and Tier-up features certain 'Extreme' winning conditions which may differ from the regular card game conditions. All games must be hosted with 0 gold stakes. Games played with gold stakes during this stage will not be considered. The player whose nickname is higher in the tournament grid hosts. For Tier-up round and the Final, players take turns hosting, beginning with the one placed higher in the grid.
1) 1/16 finals.
Location: Peaceful Camp/Magma Mines/Kingdom Castle
Deck type: Infinite deck
Conditions: The only acceptable condition to win this round is to build a huge tower. Players who win the game by demolishing enemy tower, or by collecting a heap of resources, lose the round even if they build a huge tower on the same turn.
This also means that if a player with low tower uses a card do destroy it completely, wins the round. If both towers are destroyed and are at equal level, the player who played the finisher card wins the round. However, if a player uses a card that destroys both towers and they aren't equal, the player with bigger tower wins the round.
Example 1. A player has tower 3 wall 10, the opponent has tower 4 wall 11. The player plays Berserker (8 damage, 3 damage to your tower). This destroys the player's tower, thus he wins the round.
Example 2. A player has tower 4 wall 21, the opponent has tower 4 wall 17. The player plays Discord (7 damage to all towers, -1 to all monasteries). This destroys both towers down to -3, thus the player wins the round.
Example 3. A player has tower 1 wall 10, the opponent has tower 3 wall 4. The player plays Berserker which destroys both towers. But the player's tower is at -2, whereas the opponent's tower is at -1, thus the opponent wins the round.
Sleight pot: The player with biggest amount of mana at the moment when his or her game ends wins the pot (doesn't matter if he or she has won the game or the round, or lost).
2) 1/8 finals. This is going to be a long one.
Location: Lizard Lowland/Bear Mountain/Ungovernable Steppe
Deck type: One deck
Conditions: The acceptable conditions to win this round are to build a huge tower or to demolish enemy tower. Players who win the game by collecting a heap of resources, lose the round even if any other condition was satisified on that turn.
Sleight pot: The player with biggest total number of sources (barracks+monastery+mine) at the moment when his or her game ends wins the pot (doesn't matter if he or she has won the game or the round, or lost).
3) Quarter-finals.
Location: Green Wood/Fairy Trees/Crystal Garden
Deck type: Infinite deck
Conditions: The acceptable conditions to win this round are to collect a heap of resources or to demolish enemy tower. Players who win the game by building a huge tower, lose the round even if any other condition was satisfied on that turn.
This also means that if a player uses a card do build up the opponent's tower huge, he wins the round. If both towers are built huge and are at equal level, the player who played the finisher card wins the round. However, if a player uses a card that builds both towers and they aren't equal, the player with smaller tower wins the round.
Example 1. A player has tower 76 wall 10, the opponent has tower 99 wall 51. The player plays Rainbow (+1 to all towers, + 3 mana). This builds the opponent's tower to huge, thus, the player wins the round.
Example 2. A player has tower 99 and so does his opponent. The player plays Die mould (+1 to monastery, +3 to tower, +1 to enemy tower) which builds both towers to huge. Player tower becomes 102, and the opponent's tower becomes 100, thus the opponent wins the round.
Sleight pot: The player with highest tower at the moment when his or her game ends wins the pot (doesn't matter if he or she has won the game or the round, or lost).
4) Semi-finals.
Location: Tiger Lake/Dragons' Caves/Titans' Valley
Deck type: Infinite deck
Conditions: The acceptable conditions to win this round are to collect a heap of resources or to build a huge tower. Players who win the game by demolishing enemy tower, lose the round even if any other condition was satisfied on that turn.
This also means that if a player with low tower uses a card do destroy it completely, he or she wins the round.
Sleight pot: The player whose opponent has lowest tower at the moment when his or her game ends wins the pot (doesn't matter if he or she has won the game or the round, or lost). This includes negative numbers (out of two players, one of whom took opponent tower down to -18 and another down to -1, the former wins the pot).
5) Tier-up match for 3rd place.
Location: Empire Capital/Eagle Nest/Port City or East River/Portal Ruins/Mithril Coast/The Wilderness
Deck type: One deck
Conditions: No special conditions, but this round is played like the group stage matches, until two wins in a row.
6) Final.
Location: East River/Portal Ruins/Mithril Coast/The Wilderness
Deck type: One deck
Conditions: No special conditions, but this round is played like the group stage matches, until two wins in a row. | Question: if a player in your group refuses or is unable to play with you for whatever reasons, what happens? | The players who dropped out of the tournament were replaced. They take the quitter's place and play all matches in his or her stead.
If someone refuses to play with his or her group member specifically, I shall treat it as a technical defeat and award 1 point to that player. |
