Wizards are extremely unfairly weak in PVP
Since level 3, wizads weak
at level 5 and 6 (may even be at 7 but I am not sure as I'm still level 6)
level 5 and 6, Other faction have highly troops!!
About their spell? don't talk as DE or many other faction have the same arrow spell with highly more powerful troops

lol, such question had been discuss so many times.
only one solution towards this question, change to other faction that you think are strong.
as Pang said, Any faction can be the best; BUT definitely not the one you are playing now.
increase your spell power to pump your damage, or try to improve your strategy in combat.

you will find 1 zap kill:
- entire stack of angel
- almost entire stack of cavalry
- 4 or 5 cleric
- 50% stack of royal griffin
- 7 or 8 guardians
- over 40 xbow

Every faction has been called to weak or to strong at some point.
A good rule is never call the faction you play yourself underpowered since you will always notice the weak points and the strong points of any other faction.
Does the server punish for choosing magic with wizards?
The answer is no, they try to balance it as good as they can, sometimes you will have certain match up that is impossible to win but all in all it is very well balanced
