I have seen many players chose Hobgoblin over Wolf Raider
May any Barb expert tell me why. |

If you take for eg.
A wolf Rider does 100 damage and 100 damage. But Hobs do 150 damage.
Then they would have a lesser chance to be retaliated, hence decreasing losses. |

| Because they don't know about existence of hunters' sets and Battle fury talent? +1 min-max damage for wolves equals to +2 because of double attack and +3 because of triple attack for upgraded and +6 if are both talent+set. In other words upgraded wolves are damn crazy 1-strike killers, and even if a stack survives 1st strike there will be 2nd and then even 3rd, but I don't think something will survive 2nd. |

ok, lets say a lv 12 barb can recruit maximum 171 hobs or maximum 90 wolf raiders. 90 wolf raiders may deal more damage in TOTAL, but hobs easily surpass damage done in one strike. Now if you are refering to ST barbs, the reason they choose hobs over raiders is because if you kill an enemy stack without taking retal, your stack lasts longer. In ST, raiders would hit, but most likely not kill an enemy, and then enemy would retal killing a few wolves. After a few waves, wolves would become almost useless. Plus, choosing hobs is better because then you can bring more ogres too. If you go with max orc, max raider, about 9 roc, 4 cyclops, you could only bring about 12-15 ogre. BUT, if you go 170 hobs, max orcs, about 9 rocs, 4 cyclops, you can ALSO recruit 28 ogre magi, which is much better.

| and also there are hunts against creatures which have 'special' treatment like dragons, griffs and the other unlimited retail creatures; wolfs aren't very good in those fights either (as explained above). |
1. hobs deal more damage in a single strike.
2. they cannot be cursed.
3. they are small and able to filter into anywhere.
4. they are good for protecting chiefs/cyclops together with ogres; can be hidden behind ogres; cannot be reached by creatures with 8 speed without tactics talent.
so, hobs are better in PvP. |
