What is considered an insult according to this rule?
3.3. It is forbidden to insult and/or humiliate players directly through communication media (forum, chat, mail etc.), in combat, card game, etc.
I noticed that almost everybody who is giving an insult is considering illegal except in this battle where somebody called another a “bad player” and I was told he also called him “noob” in Russian?
Where does the limit go?
Can I start calling people noob and bad player? |

Keep in mind the rules about mods/admins actions so be clever when asking in forum.
"word 'newbie' should by no means be percieved as an insult" <- the administration
"and if a person calls another person a 'bad player' it's just his opinion and also isn't an insult" <- official answer
As long you do it only 1 time per fight and per player like it was done in your link i do not see any rule broken... Else...

Maybe it depends on whom is talking...
Also from the same battle-chat now if you simply talk in someone else's battle and he reports you it's a flooding violation. It's about personal interpretation of rules by particular people.

It would sure be good though if we were informed what is considered illegal and what not since every time a new rule is invented there is an uproar. Also there should be a pardon period for cases prior to the time it was announced illegal. It's happened quite some times before and it's always the same since there is not communication or proper announcements and updates of rules. |
i think everyone has their own measure for "insult".
while someone feeling ok when called "bad player", some other feel insulted by the word. |

I'm assuming that if someone posts a complaint about being called a noob and a bad player, then they are feeling insulted by it. However it seems that how the player involved feels is irrelevant.
Now we should all be clear that expressing the opinion that another player is a "noob" and a "bad player" is not a punishable offense in this game.
But beware of talking in someone else's battlechat. If you are asked to leave the battlechat, just go or risk a heavy fine. Flooding of this type is considered a big offense. |
interesting topic and postings
this is where the tension between 'concrete rules' and 'liquid' social interaction becomes clear...
it's about context, intention, and phrasing that intention.
'you're a noob, aren't you? ;)' is definately not the same thing as 'you noob!'
smileys help, also :)
so yeah, being a moderator isn't just pure mathematics, it also contains a lot of judgement. i'm guessing mods have some kind of checklist to guide that judgement, so for us players it would sure be good [...] if we were informed what is considered illegal and what not since every time a new rule is invented there is an uproar.
(pretty useless post of mine actually, since i'm repeating everyone... sorry about that... did I insult anyone?) |
