Which one do you prefer? Both are nice species of dogs, but personally I prefer the Golden Retriever. The Golden Retriever is usually more docile and in my opinion is better around children - Something you may need to consider, I am not sure. The German Shepherd is great if you enjoy an active lifestyle and want to involve your dog in it. While both dogs are fairly active, a German Shepherd is a great dog for running with or throwing a stick around at the beach.
The German Shepherd is a little more frisky and unless trained properly, can be a lot fiercer than the Golden Retriever. I have seen a couple of angry German Shepherds but never an angry Golden Retriever! :)
In the end it all comes down to which dog you prefer and what your lifestyle/situation is. For instance, I find that a Golden Retriever would make a fine household dog, whereas I wouldn't consider the German Shepherd to be a full-time household dog ;) |
