AuthorWords to live by. (Let's talk wisdom)
Well. Pretty much, find a quote you want to discuss, and lets talk about it. Here's how we'll do it.

1) Your quote.
2)How you interpret it and what you think of it.
3)Talk about the quote before you or any that make you think.

I'll start. My quote is: "A sense of humor is a major defense against major troubles" ~ Mignon McLaughlin

I can see where this comes in, if you take things too seriously they can really mess up your day. I think of it like this, if you can brush off what comes at you, you'll be fine, now that doesn't mean ignore it, it just means to not let it get to you.

This isn't too in-depth because it's just one I thought seemed like a topic starter.

Your move, Lords.
It doesn't just have to be quotes either. If you have something you wonder about, or bothers you, go ahead and put it out there, just please be kind to other posters.
My quote is: "A sense of humor is a major defense against major troubles" ~ Mignon McLaughlin

I find his last name to be very ironic...
Haha, yeah... It definitely makes you wonder what kind of person he is.
"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better."
"Defeat is not bitter unless you swallow it."
Both are preservernce based quotes, the first means every time you fail you're that much closer to success, and the second meaning you're not defeated unless you accept that you are.

"As long as one person still lives...it shall be proof eternal that mankind ever existed"
"The soul is Immortal!"
The first means that the proof of the existence of our ancestors is us, and the proof of us is our descendants, and they are the ones we leave behind to carry our name.
The second quote, which was said into the face of death, means even if the body is lost, the soul remains.

"Even if I was someone, people couldn't comprehend me. And even if they could, they wouldn't be able to communicate it to those around them. I do not belong to the world. That is the world's limit, the boundary between the world and the self."
quote: i wanted to write sumtin cool and smart here but then i took an arrow to the knee
"one death is atragedy. One million is a statistic"- Joseph Stalin.

It is so applicable today. Millions die each year from things that a little money would save but is never given. Then some people see some messed up child with a visbily disturbing disease on the news, and 10s of thousands of dollars is spent saving that one child.
there are 2 types of lines in this world one of that of people who do the work and the other of that of people who take the credit always be in the 1st line because the second line is rather(Extremely^999^999 )long

self explanatory quote

it doesnt matter who gets the credit

but what matters is that who did it because one who did it can do it amillion times again but the credit taker would fail at the first time
Lead,
Follow,
or get the hell outta the way.
When u surrounded
dont think u r defeated
Just think now u can attack in any and every direction
Well said brother
@5, I like all of those, the legacies, the unwavering spirit. The unwavering spirit kind of goes with 10.

@7 Yes. The world still hinges on it's idiotic veiw of "Save one, Save a million" but if you were to save a million, you'd actually be doing what you want, AND getting results. I don't understand humanities obsession with "Feeling good". It's more about making money than solving problems these days, and the way they use the sick child is horrifying. "Give us money to save this child" but where does all that extra money go, when that little boy/girl dies? To the companies.

@8 "When a job is done right, it's like there was never a problem." Credit isn't what's important like you say, being humble can sometimes be better than being credited.

@9 I like that. It's like when "Critics" and "Experts" Speak of what's wrong, but don't actually help to fix it. The other day this happened: A young lady was walking down the street and she dropped her things, a man says to her to be more careful instead of helping. I helped and told the man to "Shove-off" in a less... Polite way, and made a pretty young friend along the way. If you get involved, you'd see a change.

How about self sacrifice? Anyone done something to help another, and not take credit, or maybe even get into trouble for them?

"The way of the Guardian, is one of Sacrifice and being humble" which goes with "Wisdom comes from listening, when one wished to speak"
"When I get sad,I stop being sad and be awesome instead"-barney stinson
Ha. Yeah, why be sad when you can be cool? It's what I do.
"A drowning man is not troubled by rain."

"Rain beats a leopard's skin, but it does not wash off the spots."

"The reverse side also has a reverse side."
"Some men just want to watch the world burn."

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Good qoutes from Dark Knight ^
"No one understands the truth; they don’t want to understand the truth.
The truth is that it takes more courage to be the villain than it does to be the hero.
The cosmos themselves seem to invariably support the hero, while the villain has only himself to rely on.
It took a great deal of courage for Lucifer to stand up to his Creator.
He knew he couldn’t win that battle, and yet he did so anyway because the alternative was even more loathsome than hellfire.
The alternative meant giving in and truckling to some preordained cosmic design,
surrendering his free will and becoming some pitiable creature that lay at his master’s feet,
unable to even speak a word in protest at the inequity he perceived. I suppose I always knew I’d be the villain.
And if that means I have to go up against the entire Universe then so be it!"
“When lost in utter darkness, there is nothing left but forward."
