Today at school the kid sittin behind me said "Im getting high off this sharpie" i laughed and the dude beside me asked what he said. I repeated it and the teacher heard me. As punishment-she is making me write a two page essay on the effects of "language". I find this pointless but i have to do it. So im asking yall cuz i have NO IDEA what the "effects are"
Do yall know what the effects of swearing are??

Maybe your teacher misunderstood you...or your English is really bad xD

Spoken language is what allowed humans to communicate their ideas to one another. Humans became able to teach each other and think together, complementing each other. This opened the doors to major discoveries and the spread of these discoveries across large distances. Thanks to communication via language humans came to posses fire and use a wheel to transport things. These are the first technological steps of our civilization. Ability to create fire provided warmth and let the humans cook food which was highly beneficial in limiting sickness. Therefore, the human life span and quality of human life has greatly improved, enabling humans to produce more offspring and multiply in numbers.
Farther more, the use of speech enabled different tribes to negotiate with each other instead of blunt show of power. This limited conflicts and also contributed to increasing the quality of life and life span.
Later on the writing farther improved language communications by leaving lasting knowledge to future generations. There have been times when books were the only thing that survived a culture.
All in all, the invention of language is what enabled humanity to move forward beyond the level of apes and embark on a path to technological progress. |
If your teacher has a sense of humor, and you aren't too old...maybe you can have some fun and write a weak paper like this:
Main point: A spoken variation of the English language is now responsible for a written paper about the effect of language.
Sub-Point 1: Language is a good thing because it can create order
Sub-Point 2: Language is a bad thing because it can create injustice
Sun-Point 3: Language is necessary because without it I wouldn't have purpose
Conclusion: The effects of "language" are huge. Speaking in class resulted in my having to write a paper about the implications of language. I realize that without some form of communication the world would be a dark, and disorderly place. I also realize that it can cause injustice since I have to write a paper that no one else has to write for speaking in class. I also have come to realize that if not for language I would never of even been in the situation that made me write this paper--such irony.
