why, when executing someone by lethal injection, do they use a sterilized needle?
this makes me wonder. |
Just because someone is being executed doesn't mean that they won't into contact with others after the "procedure".
The body would have to be removed and, ultimately, buried or cremated. It is likely people will handle the body when doing so.
So it's obviously not for the benefit of the one being executed, but rather a simple precaution to reduce possibility of infection on general principles.

still, Grunge, i think it would be wiser to employ a used one. as a backup plan, you know... then they could say: "well, dude, we miscalculated the amount of lethal substance... but on the bright side, you have AIDS now, so we're technically still killing you". |
they still execute people using the method? |
Looks like there might be other reasons for using sterilized needles.

Also, it appears that if the first attempt is unsuccessful then another injection is administered.
