You need an art with has 0 durability left.
Go to the inventory, in the upper right side of the box from the item will be a hammer you have to click on. (That's one option which brings you to your smithy.)
On the smithy screen you have to choose the item in the dropdown list and then you can click on repair, if you have enough gold of course. |

Unless you rare trying to build your smith guild, which requires about 4 MILLION gold to reach the max(!), I strongly advice against repairing your own artifacts.
Also, when you start off the first few smith levels, you can only repair like 10-20% of the total durability + every time you repair an art, the durability goes down by -1.
In most cases, it's way cheaper to sell your broken arts to Empire and buy new shop arts in the Artifacts Shop. |

I wish. That would be a dream come true for me.
5,770 smith points are needed for smith level 9 (the maximum at the moment). Each point cost 4,000 gold. That means that you "only" need 5,770 x 4,000 gold - that is over 23 millions! (Nearly six times the amount that you are saying) |
as a smith you dont pay 100% yourself....
customers pay most of it themselves, and since SG 1->4 is way faster than SG5-8 it is not proportional and 4M can be accurate |
+you need to look at SG8 not SG9.
As long as you only smith and not enchant, SG9 is useless |
