| It's useful in ST. At times you have to wait with all your troops and hero, and sometimes you have to do it for a while. If you know it's going to be a while, you can click 'defend' instead of 'wait' so that you don't have to click repeatedly (and it will take less time). |
| imagine that u need to go to bathroom to attend nature's call while ur in a game. defend all units also hero so dat u get a minute or two. ;P |
| it is quite useful in hunts for the faction elf for example. if you want to bless your Ebows you would want to bless them just before their go if you don't have spell power so you may defend with your hero and wait with your bows. |
| As merlin said, it can be helpful if you need a specific order to cast a spell just before a unit has their turn. In my case its to get my hero to have a turn just before my xbows do, so I can bless them as I have no spell power (Unless I use arts to get it anyway). Other than that it has very little use. |
| #7,8 - Seriously, you actually do that? Defending with a hero takes exactly as long as if you attacked with hero, or waited twice. It makes no difference except on the lost damage you could have done with hero. |

For example, during a raid quest, if you attack the last stack of a wave with the hero, that might trigger the next wave before your troops are ready. Or, if you're fighting ghosts/apparitions, and you know the next attack will hit, you'd want to save it for your troop. |

I rather wait than defend...in all instances...but quite an interesting array of opinions on this :)
