i choose as best unit the lorekeeper. they can fireball the groups of shooters (always too many of these) and can chastise too. for low levels, probably the druid: good HP, lightning, stone, and a shooter.
as worst units, any low HP shooters. they get pwned in no time, hardly get a chance to deal big damage. wolf raiders and shrews aren't doing that well either, for what i've seen. |
Guardians. With descent arts they can kill any stack in one hit. They are not favoured by AI, so they can survive pretty long.
(Maybe) worst unit: Cerberi. Be happy if they get one turn. |
Best: Apparitions - good dmg, 50% chance for miss, AI doesn't 'like' them much, drain mana is awesome way to keep them alive for a long time.
Worst: cerberi, shrews, gmb. Rarely survive first turn :( |
Lizard Cavalery dies first turn for me might be because I got no shrews in my army. :D |
Best:
DE - Liz (decrease defense ability always rocks against full arts)
Wiz - Lorekeepers
Knight - Swordsmans (usually the last one on the field and only ones that can defend against shooters, just make sure you kill all the shrews before)
Barbs - Wouldn't know... but probably large stack of ogres can be very usefull
elf - efks tend to die very quickly, so I would go for unicorns
necs - skeleton archers are very useful for taking out large stacks of shooters, but I would choose aparithos anyway
demon - cerberi against mage DE and hell horses against the rest

Anything that dies in a first round and cannot deliver huge amount off damage meanwhile, like shrews, low HP shooters, imps die quickly as well |

According to me,in low lvls for demons it's definitely Succubi.Half of them are dead in first round. |

Well maybe a good idea to take them with you in low amounts, split them in as many stacks as possible as distraction and let the enemy waste a lot of damage on 1-4 stack shrews, cerberi, etc.

I decreased the amount of shrews to 2/3 of max, which gives me enough to weaken the possible shrews or shooters in front rows and on the other side gives me more minos and hydras.
For example:
If the opponent have rocs/thunderbirds, they will always hit shrews first and since they are strong you have to accept that one of your stacks will die/be deadly damaged for sure. Definitelly better 15-20 shrews to die than majority of 22 lizs. |

Succubies are bad for these fights, I agree.
Wolfhounds and especially Incendiaries are long lasting units... my Inc. were only attacked when almost all of my creatures were dead.
I do not know, what is the situation with spawns, for me they died very quickly. Hell horses are likely attacked too... |
magi,succubi,elven bowmen are the worst units of all.
they have highest rate ext/hp.being a medium ini shootber,they will be killed immediately in front of same quality of orc chief,nothing left and worth killing. |
As for DE:
best unit = Ladons / Hydras
because they are 'last' target unit of DE, anyway survivor and with rage and multiple attack really deadly
worst unit = Shrews
since enemy DE-s are somehow always faster and even if they survive 1st turn they are primary target of archers |

Not true; over half the time my shrews are faster. If used less shrews and more minos, then that just means the enemy would just hit my minos. I agree with Sven; something needs to take the hit. Sure minos can last longer, but how long does it take for minos to actually be able to do some damage? Shrews do good damage against rocs and shrews to prevent the enemy from just outright killing half your army in the first turn.
Ladons appear great in end-game but that's only because other units have weakened the enemy enough and taken all the hits during the first few turns.
For DE I would argue there is really no best/worst unit. They all support each other. |

I see u base your opinion mainly on Saboteur fights, so u are right in a way.
But if u think about Rebel fights (more waves) you must agree that in long term shrews are worst while ladons the best. |
