AuthorAFK in group combats
Hello there.
Here's a suggestion, though I guess it's not acceptable, but you could think of something similar anyway ...

1. I suggest that AFK players in group combats will not be defeated if they stay afk for a long time, the army of an afk person should remain as it is until he/she reconnects (not waiting the timer, the timer could go to zero for that player and just pass his/her turns) having an option of canceling the "AFK mode"* when the player manages to see the combat screen again.

2. Another suggestion to solve the AFK problem is to let the teamates of the AFK person control his/her troops at will when in "AFK mode"* and the AFK player shall have a "cancel AFK mode" when he/she gets back online. In this case, should the AFK player stays AFK for TOO LONG (meaning it's not just a connection problem) the whole team gets a penalty on XP (so that there will be not AFKs at will in order for example the teamates to play more often).

3. One last - but don't know if possible - suggestion is for the AFK player's troops to be treated as AI objects and move according to the AI's combat system. The player will have an option to disable "AFK mode"* when he gets back online and play normally.

In few words, being AFK for various reasons is treated with defeat, no matter the team's troops - strength - chances of winning and anything else. The 1st and 2nd suggestion can't be applied in 1v1 (duel) combats efficiently and that's why I refer to group combats as said in Topic Title. The third option could take place on this kind of combats on the other hand. What's more to advance my suggestions the players could have an option when creating a group battle that indicate what type of "AFK mode" will be used in the combat (but this makes the functioning even harder for the game's developers to do). Hope my ideas were useful and accepted.

*In any case the player will enter "AFK mode" when his troops wait (due to timer=0) 4-5 times on the row (the same time it is right now).

33. Introduce auto-combat or temporary ally control for AFKing players
