a steel buckler and steel blade will be good enough.
~2400 gold and +2 attack and +2 defense.
but i recommend doing hunts at your level, since it'll take arts to fight at lv 5+. |

Sorry for posting with my multi, but I am posting just to give him the example.
Take a look at me. I just got level 5 earlier. I have been doing hunts and fights when I got lvl 3, and I only did some fights with only steel blade and steel buckler, but I left them aside and I did as many hunts as possible, when I had one, and than I did battles without armor, and now I have a few money spare for arts and hobgoblins later on, so dont spend money when you dont have to ;) |
