Some games, like strategy games (i.e. Age of Empires/HoMM) belongs on the PC, and the more fast paced games like action games (i.e. Prince of Persia/Resident Evil) belong on the console. Of course, this is from my personal experience and other's opinions may differ :)

Lol about the spelling, i was tired xD it was late last night ;)
But the thing is, according to that article a mouse + keyboard is better for shooters also. Think about how much easier is it to aim with a mouse? and wasd is faster than an analogue stick because all you have to do is press, not move from side to side, which takes ever so slightly longer.
I personally have no preference to one or the other, but the fact is, it is easier to play most games on the computer set up... |
... after all a console is merely a specialised PC (remember the first xbox was a celeron 733 and a 10gig HDD) with a decent graphics capability and a hand friendly controller. While aiming is surely easier to do precisely with a mouse, shooting is more realistic with a controller as it is a trigger pull (squeeze) and not a button press. Driving games are pretty suck on a PC unless you've got a decent steering wheel. A controller is probably the middle ground for these types of games which require proportional control of throttle, brakes and steering simultaneously.
Console strategy games can be highly annoying unless they make unbelievably good use of the controller's (limited) features and teach you the controls very quickly.
So a console with a mouse and keys, a wireless controller and a steering wheel and pedals is probably best, but won't help you so much with doing your work ;-) |

I've played CoD: Modern Warfare 2 on both the PC and PS3, and I honestly don't know which one is better...True, it's much smoother to aim+shoot with the mouse, but almost everything else is easier with a controller (crouching/throwing grenades and other miscellaneous actions)

Agree; PC can do everything a console can and more. In fact consoles have resolution limits while PCs don't. You don't see much difference now that the latest consoles started to heavily use computer parts, but still if you have a good PC, then you can kill any console on all fronts.
Those who say consoles are better are usually those who don't (won't, can't) spend the $ on their PCs. Console manufacturers actually lose $ with each sale in order to market their consoles to those with less $. They earn back the real $ by the game sales. |
