Author | Timer to Sell Resources and New Logs to beat Script Cheats |
The Problem
I have no doubts now that there is a moderate to large group of people who are using illegal scripts to sell resources at Factories.
I have created several topics about this issue, and several others have created topics as well. The scripts are so bad and so blatant that it is very easy for someone to buy an artifact at a factory for the purpose of enrolling, to then not be quick enough to type a code to enrol before someone else has exhausted all the funds at the factory by selling goods to the factory.
Just today at Seraph's Tears I purchased a Jewelry of Despair, and then immediately enrolled afterwards. The jewelry cost 17000 gold. By the time I completed my enrol code (and I did it very quickly without error), there was only 4000 gold worth of funds in the factory. By the time I refreshed the screen (2 seconds later), that was gone too.
The Proposed Solutions
One possible solution to this is to have a sell code, like an enrol code. However I think there is a smaller group of people who have a working script for that now too. - I am still compiling evidence of this.
A better option would be to limit the amount of resources that could be sold at a time by a particular player, and to also include a timer of e.g. 30 seconds; before that player can sell more resources in the region.
In addition (expanded upon another great idea in Suggestions - also about this issue) is to break up the Transaction Log into 3 logs.
Log 1: All Market Transactions
Log 2: All private transactions with other players
Log 3: All Mine, Production Site, and Factory Transactions.
This increased transparency should make it a lot more difficult to perform illegal activity in the game.
Cheers | +1 , to the sell code similar to the enrol code.
Doing this every 20 resources sell must type a new sell code, I think this is a very good idea. | I don't like the sell code.
It would mean that every single people who want to sell resources have to type in a code. Not good. Moreover, there ARE some of us that refresh (but at somewhere where someone usually buys things, like amulet of luck in East Bay or nickel works when there is a lot of people online) to try to sell resources. If the sell code is implemented, we will NEVER manage to sell resources on time.
I also dislike the limitation. The fact that there is a timer before the player can sell MORE it not good, since there are times when I buy and artifact from a factory, enroll, then sell resources, re-bankrupting the factory. (Example: I buy 1 steel from the steel works in Great Capital, enroll, then sell 3 wood. By doing this, the steel works goes back to the way it originally was: no one can enroll. If you add in that rule, then I cannot do so. The above example is ok, true, how about this: I buy 1 nickel from the nickel works in Great Capital, enroll, sell 2 mercury and 2 wood. This idea, if implemented, would prevent me from doing so. Also take note that if the code idea was implemented here, it would take longer for me to sell resources (to a factory I bought the product from, note that) and someone else might enroll, severly limiting the amount of money I earn in the long run. | code will spoil the little fun there is. in fact, as far as i know it is very easy to find the illegal scrip user, if there is a desire to do so (purchase\selling timing in logs), but there is no desire to start with. | -1 for sell code
+1 for logs | what +1 for logs ? any keeper can see those logs, if he wishes, and if they don't react, then they don't wish or just don't have time. I just think LWM needs independent english-speaking sheriff, that's all. who has enough time for the project | +1 to LWM needs independent English-speaking sheriff who has enough time for the project. | in fact, i specifically looked thru HWM forum, and found a topic there which might interest the TC, its link

(in case some one of you know russian), but i will just cite the head phrase:
today 253 violators were blocked for usage of economic bots for period since March 2010 till today. If some of the bot users were lucky to escape getting into this list, we recommend you immediately stop using bots, as you will be blocked sooner or later and then follows the lost of blocked chars. that's how people fight bots, not with codes | I don't like the sell code.

Hey I hear loud and clear everything you just said, and what you said is certainly reasonable. The problem is if there is a Script Bot sitting on the site you are tryng to milk legitimately, chances are the Script Bot will beat you to most of those resource sales.

Well I think it is overdue that someone looks at doing this here.
Thanks Hellfalcon and ChooJeremy for your productive input.

Yea, whatever he said :P
I'd just like to add that recently, I purchased a Longbow from the Longbow workshop when the place was utterly deserted. Almost no gold in the factory and certainly no workers. I needed a new longbow and also my enroll had just ended, so I bought one and enrolled. Right before I enrolled I checked the stock of all resources, so I could sell some of my excess ones. Wood had, in stock 395.43/396. Right after I enrolled, when I checked there was 405.43/396 wood in stock O.o I know what some of you will say, that it was just someone refreshing for a few gold profit (and if it was, I pity them. That's no hard-core gamer, just someone with no life...) But for someone to realize that there was enough gold to sell those resources at the factory when there was no money in it (and no telling when someone was gonna buy another bow) (s)he had to have been using a script. I'm no expert on programing, but admins have caught script users in .ru so ofc they could be here too. | +1 i love the idea about the logs, they should also make a filter. | Right after I enrolled, when I checked there was 405.43/396 wood in stock
This can only be done by buying another bow. Factory wont buy wood above its full capacity. | We face scripts problem every day.
A suggestion "Make transactions log in facilities" was already made here (1 month before this thread):

It will be very easy to catch illegal script (autosell/autobuy) users with such logs. | Thanks Omega for pointing that out. But the same thin happened in either the Steel boots or Steel helmet (I forgot which) Factory was deserted, and I bought an art and enrolled. There wasn't enough steel in stock, but right after I enrolled, I looked to unload a few steel on me and voila, stocked full O.o |
