If I advance to level 4, but do not participate in the tournament at that level, do i still get to keep my score for level 3? Because I have used all my tries for it, and I don't really want to sit around for a few days while I wait for it to be over.

You could even participate at level 4...and have 2 sets of scores for level 3 and level 4 tournament postings.
