Hello everyone!
Has anyone gotten the beta key from blizzard for the beta?
If you have i am jealous of you. ;)
I play toss in the original but from what i've seen and heard, they have very weak anti air. So i think i'll play zerg in this one, because they seem so interesting. :)
Any thought on this or beta in general? |

and now the rines have riot shields :) 10 more health :) terran are good in this game, it is so easy to block ramps with them now, they will be my next choice once i get board with zerg ;) |

Ive been watching podcasts, replays and random videos since the sc2beta came out >.< i didnt get a key and cant afford one off ebay... (not to mention im not a bum like those people trying to scam blizzard)
Psy storm is super nerfed, toss are very limited in the game.
Terran get some serious air to ground damage, along with tanks that can eliminate a army in the blink of a eye and thors...
(not to mention theyre various hit and run tactics)
But if zerg get the resource advantage theyll control the entire game with mass banelings... (i saw a replay of david kim playing on the beta vs a team liquid member 1v1 were david kim massed not that short of 100 banelings and just went straight through his toss army with them and blew up a outpost, within a minute another batch just as big was made and took out nearly the entire main base of team liquids member)
Soooooooooo stoked....
The beta looks insane its totally pumping my blood, but it does seem weird that the medic was replaced with medivak and that the battle cruisers abilities were set back to just yamato cannon...
(And immortals do some serious anti armor damage... its +20)

it's plus 30 (according to sc2armory) making them do 50 damage to armored! =D
but all the enemy needs to do is make air units and toss is screwed...:(
banelings are good, but roaches and brood lords are sooo cool! :)

lol you love these people right? but their butts are full of money from world of warcraft payments. you really don't have to worry about them. otherwise.. why don't you donate some money for them?
and all this "toss are not good anti air", "terran has serious anti ground damage" think about it, it is complete nonsense. if it were true, terran would easily kill everytoss player with these superior air units.
SC is a lovely game too bad it's all based on your actions per minute rate.. no matter how good your battle tactics are. you can never beat the speed of those crazy people.. :) |
it is completely true
Here is every toss unit that can hit air:
phoenix 10 damage (that sucks, this unit is expensive)
stalker 8 damage (that sucks)
archon 25 damage (better but their range isn't big enough to be effenctive, also expensive)
sentry 13 damage (very low health)
void ray (not good at handling multiple units)
mothership (very late game, expensive and slow)
carrier (late game, expensive)
The problem is that Blizzard took away the dragoon, scout and corsair (all good AA) and gave nothing to the protoss that can properly fill the hole that they left behind... |

but it is true... lol... Havent you seen the muta pwn videos were mutalisks utterly anihilate stalkers and the protoss base?
terran does have serious anti ground damage, look at a group of tanks guarded by some thors... splash from tanks will kill the weak units (zerglings//banelings) and thors can also hit air units.
(thats some serious damage)
o.o dragoon and corsair i will miss, along with lurker(but it will be back).
New DT doesnt look the greatest. (Not sure why but i prefer the old one =D)
Void rays are quite good at destroying basses, like high hp buildings that are left relatively unguarded... (fly in from side and blow up CC/Lair/Nexus)
One of the good things about protoss is the ability to micro, with warp gates you can get your units straight into the fight when you need them there.
(Not to mention if protoss gets land control they can make armies very fast for a counter attack away from theyre defence where they will stop your attack)
Of course im farily biased to terran and zerg. (zerg being my favorite, even in sc2.)
Just look at zerglings, boosts from upgrades 50%, being on creep 30% attack and movement speed... They can burrow on top of each other in sc2 aswell, that massivly deadly to those who do not use obs to scout first. |
my point is that i just don't believe they will release a completely unbalanced game no matter what you have seen in the replay. it probably can't be generalized like that. only because some guy lost with in a replay it doesnt mean much, next game might show different results.
even when these are replays of some good players, it doesn't mean too much. they are still human and the tactical properties in SC2 should be still rather unexplored. i have killed a guy from some national team in a tourney.. with a stupid zergling rush and he was calling me "lame" or something like that.. xD.. bad loser. so are zerglings the unbeatable superior thang in SC1? XD i doubt, he just lost because he couldn't handle the situation. also most people would say that corsairs rock the mutas but it is not true. corsair damage is explosion type, it does only 50% damage to the mutalisks. all you need is too spread the mutalisks to avoid splash damage and the corsairs become beatable or even inferior. |
We're not basing our results on one replay but many replays and the simple fact of looking at the prices of units.
ofc zerglings aren't the unbeatable superior there are many units that can beat them zealots (2 hits of 8) or even marines (6 damage). But the fact the toss don't have any units that are actually good at hitting air is a serious problem.
There are many stories of a toss playing controlling the entire map and forcing the zerg to stay in his base, but then the zerg gets mutalisks...The mutalisks outrun the stalkers and destroy almost all the toss economy and almost win. If the toss had an air unit that could actually do good damage to other air units this wouldn't happen. It is ridiculous that a player can control the entire map and all the mineral fields, and almost loose to another player with only one base because he built a spire... |
Your point is pointless then, the judgements are not made on replays they are made on stats and logic... (replays are used to support them though.) (no not just one replay...)
The play with the greatest skill and worst units can only hope to tie the player with the worst skill and greatest units. (vice versa aswell)
sc2 is in the closed beta phase meaning theyre still editing stats and possibly removing or adding unitss (they arent letting people play single player and havent revealed all the units yet even)
Sc1 is not like sc2 even though it seems farily simular and players comment on it feeling very familular, you can see alot of diffrences in the damages of units from the previous game (psy storm nerfed, lings super boost on creep are good examples, along with battlecruiser, they gave 3 styles defence offence and o.o dont remember other one but they took it out and just used the yamato cannon)
Corsairs do rock mutalisks in sc1 o.o
in general (witch doesnt mean fighting each other, it means all together)
(unless you include guardians and dev`s..., guardians own turtling people...)
Well anyways even though toss have alot of unique options and mobility, it still doesnt help the fact that they are underpowered... (Because of psy storm... i cannot stress enough how much its been nerfed >.<)
I just typed and deleted a scenario because it had to many variables XD....
but in any light zerg wins over toss, terran vs toss isnt quite as one sided. |

carrier (late game, expensive)
It is a mid game unit if you decide you want it early, though expensive in groups theyre near unstopable... (But seriously who would risk letting toss live long enough to get anything past dark templar?)
(Then again i havent seen a carrier rush it might not take that long, or qualify as a rush o.o) |
carrier rush.. you can call it relatively fast carrier, but it's never a "rush" =).. rush is a quick attack at teh beggining of the game and you don'T have carriers at that time..
by the way i wtached replays for some hours and i doubt that you can judge anything about the balance from them about toss / terran. you need far more experience to judge about such things.. |
Saying im not experienced well... isnt that quite the assumption...
