what it mean? |
It is a term people use to say that you are crap at this game. |
It is an insult. Saying you are terrible at playing and not willing to learn how to play properly. |
It is an insult.
no its not. |
noob=newbie |
noob=newbie
no its not
Newbie = A new player to a game that is still learning to become good
Noob = A player that is playing for some time but will never become good |
Noob is definitly taken as an insult by a lot of players. |
some people take it as a complement lol |
Noob is definitly taken as an insult by a lot of players.
but it has to be said that it is a "mild" insult... |
for Sven91:
It is an insult and is punishable here if used in the game. |
Noob is an insult and it also means that you are new to this game. So there is basically 2 meanings for noob. Everyone was once a noob when they first joined this game. Even I was one! I admit it! |
As far as I know there is a huge difference between newbie and noob.
Newbie is a player that is still discovering the game and learns on his or her mistakes. These players don't know much about the game yet so sometimes they make foolish mistakes.
Noob on the other hand is a type of a player, who I personaly connect with malice and arrogance. They think they know everything about the game better than anyone else (which most often is very far from the truth). They often are rude and make a lot of effort to spoil fun from the game for others.
And yes, sometimes it is used as an insult, but it's rather a mild one and in most games it's not considered as vulgar, rude or offensive, therefore it's not forbidden to call others like that (not sure what opinion hold the administration of LoWM). Calling someone noob is basically calling him stupid, annoying and malicious player. However I would refrain from calling anyone noob, there's no need to go down to that kind of person level. |

the meanings of noob and newbie can overlap and can be taken in different ways, i personally enjoy being called a noob as i find no offence to the word, on the other hand, our dear old admins get reaaaaaallly angry when you call someone a noob or even call them a noob (Do not try this at home unless you want a 5 hour ban) |
Everyone was once a noob when they first joined this game.
Unless they were from .ru before ;)
And reading lukeman's all about noobs topic will give you a clear understanding.

If we can't call stupid ppl as 'noob' then what should we call them? |

for darmogathel:
If you call then Noob to not say Stupid, you are breaking the rule, as you want to insult that person anyways.
The best is to not insult them :) |
for -Quzya-:
Just don't say the word. Many people might take that as an insult. |
