AuthorNeed a bit help with changing faction
Hi,

I'm a fresh lvl 6 Wizard and think now it would be a good moment to change to another faction for a while. I plan to return to Wizard later, but what would be a good faction to start with? I don't want to have impossible hunts, so I think about Elf. Is there a better choice? The only factions I don't want to play now are Barbarian and Knight.

What do you think?

hmmmmmm am a level 6 too but i think you should play knight or dark elf
one suggestion, if you want to be a succesful thief, factionally i think it would be best to be knight but i reccomend demon since the spawns give you mana and also stop others casting
Thanks for answers. Dark Elf would be possible too, but I plan to play it later, when shrews are available.
Let me ask like this: IF i want to start thieving, which would be the best faction without diamond updates and with little arts costs? I could get a TGI quite cheap without a need to hurry too much.

As far I've seen I should go to Elf, Dark Elf or Demon, right? I don't understand slimy's suggestion, isn't Knight very weak without more troops through faction skill?
Demons, Elves and DE are pretty good at thieving at lv 6 without diamonds.
Personally I'd suggest elf or demon over DE. But then again without good racial these are at a disadvantage.

Since DE doesn't depend much on racial (might build), you can try that. Or build up 2-3 racial in elf or demon and go along with them.

Knights are not good for thieving without good racial.
Well elves without efks are no so good at TG.Same applies for de.AT level 6 best faction for TG without diamonds would be knight as they got good defense amd nice tanks.Griffins got good initiative and speed.But you are right,knight without fsp is totally useless. Wizards and necro are quite good too

Well, my brother switched from faction lv 4 elf to faction lv 1(?) knight to do TG, he finds it a lot easier. :D
If you want to start thieving, maybe the best faction without diamond and min AP are DE. Knights also good for thieving, im doing TG lv.2 in 10 days with Knight lv.6.

But if you frequently swap faction maybe u can choose magic DE or magic Demon, because you dont need to reset ur stats with potion of oblivion.
I'm a bit confused at #8: I've thought Wizards are totally weak at TG, maybe Ini and Luck mini arts for Magi would change this?
Dark elf should fit the spot. Strong melee attackers. The talents are way too good, not to mention lizard charge. o_O
Yes, so the answer is DE. (In my opinion)

I suggest you not to thief with elf faction. Elves are with low defense troops.
i am an elf thief and i am proud of it (not to mention that i experience thiefing being easy although i'm thiefing with min arts)

forgot to add something on post 12, that's only for level 6. Not for higher levels.

especially since you will be soon lvl 7 (because thiefing gives a lot exp) and at lvl 7 you can smash nearly everything with sprites + battle fury
sprites are the second fastest creature until lvl 8 (only griffins are faster, rogues have equal ini but sprites have +3% faction bonus)

i saw u only have 20k++ gold and ur laborers guild is only lv.2. I just want to say changing faction needs a lot of gold.
Maybe u will reach lv.7 before finishing TG lv.2 because thieving gives a lot of exp. Then u will run out of gold for upgrading your castle when u are trying to complete your TG, that will be the worst scenario.
My take for a diamond-less level 6:

- Barbarians are okay. Wolves, orcs and ogres, hitting power and plenty of HP, goblins as shields. Faction level not a problem.

- Knights are okay. Low faction level is no good, but Escort simply rocks at level 6. It's a must against caravans and their hordes of critters.

- Necromancers are so-so. Vampires and Ghosts can be quite annoying in ambushes, skellies are dead meat. Some claim Plague Zombies do wonders.

- Elves are so-so. Without EFK, you have to rely on Sprite substitutes for spray damage. Bowmen are toast in ambush, killed by magic hero.

- Dark Elves are so-so. Rogues instead of Shrews make the whole strike and return much less interesting. Liz cav isn't so great since Caravans have low def anyway.

- Demons are so-so. Nothing special here, no spray damage, just gating, and since you are so close to enemy lines, you'll suffer a bit.

- Wizards are bad. Too slow, no match for caravan hero, too many troops to kill with little area damage. No faction bonus against neutrals too.

My take is therefore Barbarian or Knight, eventually Necro. Choose the faction you want to get most defense against when switching back to wizard.

Last advice: if you want to complete TG level 2 while being level 6, do ONLY ambushes. No hunt, nothing but ambushes. Or you'll end level 7 before TG level 2 and enter a whole new world of suffering. ^_^
#18: Thanks, but I surely will do my calculations before starting and I've got a friend, who can lend me a TGI to very good conditions.
