Author | enchanting or Smithing |
hey
i have a question to make ?
is it better for me to start enchanting or smithing, which of them do i earn more money?
or which is faster to lvl up?
which needs less money
which is more in need that people will come to me? | With savings of 187 gold I dont think it matters which of them you start.
Weaponsmithing, about 1.5 milion. Armorer about 3 milion.
Smithing..count yourself, I think it was more then those other two. But smithing has more customers. | I reopened this for one reason. Could please someone explain, why you cannot earn gold by weapon enchanting before you reach 4x10. I have been trying to do so in pm for, 1 hour, 10 minutes. I have failed. I tried using words, I tried using numbers, I even took my old notes and enchanting plans(I used to make evidence of element flow and weapon sales(even distributors tax) until level 3-4). I would gladly use dolls to explain, but I cant.
Or perhaps I did something wrong and flushed 550 000 into 2x7% weapon enchanting when there was actually a way to do it with profit.
One of us need explanation I am not able to give. Sorry. :-( | Well, take it as someone early on spoiled the market. Someone started off paying people to let him do enchants all the way till 3x10% and only started charging at 4x10%, and even at that point, sometimes he did it for free.
Other weaponsmiths, needing to get in on the market share, had to match his offer and charge (or rather pay) the same rate. And that standard has stuck till now.
If all the weaponsmiths came together and demanded they make a profit, one of two things can happen:
1) People start paying for the enchants at a certain level (say, 3x8% or higher)
2) People see that Enchantments are a luxury and optional and the market shrinks.
Most enchanters are worried the 2nd situation will occur and cause a big meltdown of the enchantment market demand.
I would say 3x10% now is a safe point to try to turn a profit though customers still demand you make a loss since they are paying a lot (which is true.. for the elements). It's the customer mentality and the fact that many others are offering rates that cause them to lose a lot of gold. | Discouraging advice, you don't make any money with them, but rather you lose tons of money, it will go on for months until you reach high level enough, then people start paying full cost for your work, but till then, you are still earning nothing. Usually Enchanters and Smithers only start earning money when they reach max skill.
So choose neither, just enroll and save the money for your own use, you need to be very active and have lots of gold if you want either one to be your career.
From what I've seen, even with around 250,000 gold headstart, they could only take you to Smiths' guild Lv 3, which is nowhere close to earning money. | Could please someone explain, why you cannot earn gold by weapon enchanting before you reach 4x10
I dont think you cant. Its about demand and supply. So you can demand gold for enchanting, but players has to be willing to pay for that. Echanters with 3x10% ability can charge players already and they will have customers. As there are not many 4x10% enchanters, so they have queue of customers, so it is possible to make immediately 3x10% enchanting by player who has free capacity and than to make 1x10% by some 4x10% enchanter. I did the same. | My personal advice: don't embark on either skill unless you have deep pockets 'cos it is a very, very expensive exercise to reach a notable/decent level. Even then, it'll probably take another long while (if at all) before you recup your investment, let alone make any $$ in the end.
Someone once said that smiths and enchanters are mostly crazy and do it purely for the love of the game, not commercial reasons ^_^ |
