Authorsetting ambush

if i lost an ambush while i was travelling (so i was ambushed) i cannot set an ambush myself? oO i take 1 hour penalty also if i lost when ambushed? or the penalty is less (so i don't remain 1 hour waitin to see if can set an ambush for myself)?
