Perhaps Admin should put up a Hall of Shame
listing all players they have penelized and what was done. They way Player can accually see If Admin is accually dealing out punishment for cheating |
i like AND dislike the idea...
positive:
- see admins activities
- get that rightous feeling that "evil-doers" are punished
- serves as a warning for wannabe-cheaters
- orientation for loan-givers or TGI renters
negative:
- that would be kind of a double punishement. at the moment that people got fined or banned, they are to be seen as rehabilitated. they payed for their missbehaviour and are equal again. with this list, other players might punish them again (not renting or loaning, not helping in hunts, avoiding their battles...).
everyone deserves a second chance... |
I think a public "Admin Log" is related to what you're both saying.
That would be awesome, just to know what the admins are doing on a daily basis :) |

Thats the price they should have to pay,They knew what they were doing was wrong but they did it anyways.SoI believe they would be getting thier "Just Rewards"
IE--you reap what you sow
Beside so of the bigger cheaters once they get thier Punishment will quit anyways (a big fine effectivly puts them out of game because of needing arts to fight with) |

well, i think they already payed by being punished by admins.
if that punishment is not enough admins/ (mods) should think about harsher ones. the punishement should equal the missbehaviour! and in my opinion that's not always the case here - more strict and harder punishment would probabely be a good thing...
but - as much as a instinctive, animalistc and selfrightous part of me would like to - it is not part of the other gamers to punish someone.
harder punishement (for REAL cheaters)? - YES, fast, crushingly hard, without excuse!
secondary punishement by other gamers? - NO, i'm against. |
Only for repeat offenders.
If say a level 1 or 2 does a staged battle or transers to his level 3 multi, pay the fine and forget about it.
If it's a level 7 or something repeatedly staging battles, spamming in forums or even supporting multis...hall of shame! |

I don't see a need for this. |
#6 spot on. though its still not that an important idea, but maybe will deter other cheaters. especially ones that get financial help, with the AP rule now this might be more tempting for cheaters
+1, but only for its idea. no real need |
-1 cuz it wud be a humiliation if all palyers wud see them and mock.but they r punished that is enough no need of hall of shame.how will u feel if u r in it and all players mock at u and look back at u and ignore u.it wud be humiliating :P |

Only useful to admins. No reason why we should see this. |
+1 if you cheat you deserve penalty and public umiliation |
at the time we see harder punishement (for REAL cheaters)? - YES, fast, crushingly hard, without excuse!.
this thread was started shortly before arcticwind came and froze cheaters into blocks... so i guess there's even less need for a public humiliation.
by the way: in case you're not sure about leasing TGI or giving loans or such, you can still check on penaltys on the transfer log. |

It is public humiliation enough for the players, as people are able to view transfer logs and see penalties. |

There is absolutely no reason for dealing with players who were penalised in their past any other way.
Would you like a tattoo on your forehead saying "criminal" when you leave the jail? Double and public punishments are sign of dark ages(medieval perhaps?) |
+1 Admins should not tolerate the behaviour done, The hall of shame must exist. |
Admins should not tolerate the behaviour done
they don't! chaeters get fined or blocked. |
Personally, I don't see the punishment for cheating as being severe enough. Even if you fine someone exactly how much money they got from their multis, how do you quantify how much more quickly there were able to level on account of having the money before, and such things. I'd just say block them instead. No second chance for a tainted character. If the person behind the screen wants to continue playing, they can do so on a new character.
If there is any gray area, a possibility that it was just a misunderstanding of the rules (like for example the recent game-fixing scandal), a fine would be better. But I just can't see a person taking the time to log into a half dozen accounts and transfer to their main, and not realize that they are gaming the system. |
I have mixed opinions on this subject...
I don't know about other countries and newspapers and such, but in my local area, my local newspaper prints a "Police Blotter" which describes who was fined/arrested and for what. (ie. John Doe was arrested for DUI on such and such date.) The thread or log that is being presented here, is basically the same thing.
However, if people are worried about other players shunning said cheater because their name is on the Wall of Shame, make the wall of shame not completely private. Perhaps just make it that only the first and last character of a player's name is revealed, with only 3 *s in between, so for me it'd me m***k, and for passo it'd be p***o.
I think a log w/abbreviated names would be sufficient enough to perform all the pros listed in post 2, without giving the public humiliation and possible shunning from other players.
I personally, like the idea of having the log, mainly so we can see when admin is actually here and active. I don't particularly care who exactly was fined and/or for what.
Enjoy

I'm sorry, that should say...
make the wall of shame not completely[\quote] public.
I also apologize because I gave two examples of names, in which the number of letters between the first and last is actually 3. Not every * necessarily represents a single letter. Let's say Zarebrant were to get himself on this list. Zarebrant would also only have 3 *s... Z***t |
