Author | Cape of winds+barbarian talent |
so, cape of winds(25% air resistance) worn by a level 9 faction level barbarian player with also 9 elf faction level and his present faction is barbarian
So, is the addition multiplicative or additive?
if it is multiplicative, that would mean 5/4*63(barbar)*27
would leave 100.0125% of air magic resist.
if it is additive, then it has 115% air resist.
Does this mean barbarian at higher levels will get all the magic creatures records? especially druids? |
It is inverted multiplicative.
9 faction lvl barbarian would have 5%+7%*9 = 68%
Cape of Winds = 25%
68%+(1-68%)25% = 76% resist |
I meant barbarian faction level |
9 elf faction level
so, what happens when the barbarian have magic shield as talent/ |

9 faction lvl barbarian would have 5%+7%*9 = 68%
Cape of Winds = 25% (air)
68%+(1-68%)25% = 76% air resist
Magic Shield = 20%
68%+(1-68%)25% = 76% + (1-76%)20% = 80.8% |
Cape of winds (25%) with Barb 9(68%) and Elf 9(27%) and Barrier (20% magic shield) = 85.98% Resist
And the Faction Resist mostly works on non-neutral creatures (those led by a hero), so I think they don't affect Hunts. |
Um, your calculation is wrong - or more precisely I cannot really follow that multiplication - neither what you do nor how you can say it gives 100.0125%. It gives 2126.25(!)
--
Damage = Standard Damage * 0.25 (cape) * 0.32 (Barbarian = 1-0.68) * 0.73 (Elf resis, assuming getting hit by a Lightning from an Elf = 1-(3*0.03)=1-0.27)
Figuring all in AND assuming it is multiplicative (of which I am not really sure but which I would guess it is) the damage would still be 5.8% of the original damage.
[How do you get your numbers? I more or less see the 27; 63 probably forgott the base 5% of Barbarians? but 5/4?!?]
But to answer the question: Barbarian v Wizard at level 9 already - the wizard can basically go home. Barbs kill magic-users easily. For the monsters... I found Druids are pretty happy to use their "normal" ranged attack lately. |
Meeep. *0.75 for the cape of course - now I fall for that error myself. Ending in 17.52% of the original damage. |
If the calculations for resistance look difficult to understand, you can take this example:
Let's say you are out shopping. You see a $100 item with 50% off. But it is a super sale, and they give you a 2nd 50% off.
How do you calculate this?
1. You can add the two 50% together: 50% + 50% = 100% off, right? <Wrong>
2. You take 50% off of $100 = $50. Then you take the 2nd 50% off of the $50. So $100 *50% *50% = $25 <Right> |
Thanks all, I got myself cracked up there |
hmm... so the conclusion is its not worth to switch talents against magic users in hunt for barbs? (magic shield). it seems it increases resistance only a little |
