how do i repair an item | You repair an item by using the Blacksmith building which you can only build when you reach level 6. You can only repair items at 0 durability.
You will be able to repair back 10% to 90% of the maximum durability of the item depending on your skill level of your Smith's Guild and the max durability will be permanently reduced by 1.
It is recommended that if the item is re-purchasable, it is cheaper to sell and re-purchase the item rather than repair it. | [Post deleted by moderator Takesister // No advertsiing on Q&A] | I recently reached level 6 elf and was looking forward upgrading with Blacksmith. I have used different artifacts and I was hoping I could win a lot by repairing them, using some of them myself and selling the others. I knew I would only be able to repair them for only 10%, and I found it normal. Yu have to learn to get better. But I was totally disgusted when I found out what would cost all that leveling up.
I found out that Takesister is totally right when she wrote: 'It is recommended that if the item is re-purchasable, it is cheaper to sell and re-purchase ...'
A few examples:
- Steel Blades (0/30) can be repaired (3/29) for 552 gold. What do you win, 0,14 guild points: so you have to repair 215 (0/30) blades to level up +1 (=30 guild points). That will cost you 215x552=118.680 gold. For that price you can buy 85 totally new blades (30/30) at 1385 each. With 85 new shields you can battle/hunt 85x30=2550 times, with the repaired ones only 215x3=645 times. You can also choose to sell the used shields at the shop for 215x897=192.855 gold and buying even more new ones for it.
- Reprisal Swords (0/40) can be repaired (4/39) for 1544 gold. What do you win, 0,39 guild points: so you have to repair 77 (0/40) swords to level up +1 (=30 guild points). That will cost you 80x1544=118.888 gold. For that price you can buy 30 totally new swords(40/40) at 3870 each. With 30 new swords you can battle/hunt 30x40=1200 times, with the repaired ones only 77x4=308 times. You can also sell the used shields at the shop for 77x2509=193.1935 gold and buying even more new ones for it.
- Defender Shields (0/40) can be repaired (4/39) for 1360 gold. What do you win, 0,34 guild points: so you have to repair 89 (0/40) shields to level up +1 (=30 guild points). That will cost you 89x1360=121.040 gold. For that price you can buy 35 totally new shields (40/40) at 3420 each. With 35 new swords you can battle/hunt 35x40=1400 times, with the repaired ones only 89x4=356 times. You can also sell the used shields at the shop for 89x1670=148.630 gold + 89x3=267 ore and buying even more new ones for it.
So leveling up smithing will cost you a fortune, before you even get little bit better in it. Who is going to provide you with worn out artifacts and pay you to repair them?
So, what is it good for having the opportunity to 'repair' (= to mess up) your goodies???? | Why repair?
Because there are some arts you cannot re-buy.
1) Thieves'/Hunter/MH/GH arts.
These cannot truly be re-purchased except at the mercy of others willing to sell them on the market. Prices fluctuate a lot and supply isn't guaranteed.
2) Enchanted arts.
The cost of enchanting an art is so high that it's cheaper to repair them once they are enchanted instead of buying a new art and re-enchanting it. | But anyway repaired items loose durability. So after X repairs the are gone forever?
Is it worth investing yourself becoming a better blacksmith; or is it cheaper joining a guild? | Is it worth investing yourself becoming a better blacksmith; or is it cheaper joining a guild?
That is something only you can determine yourself. A good smith is in high demnad and clans will want you to join them, but it's a long and expensive path. |
