are elements gained randomly in quests or does not it depend on ur combat level,MG r4eputation or the {x}value of x? |
randomly, 20% chance |
randomly, 20% chance
So, I'm soo unlucky? Incredible!
I have the chance to lot up to 2 elements (4th level in MG) so it should be a double chance at 20%
4% chance to have 2 elements + other 32% chance to have 1 element
VS
64% chance to have NO elements...
I'm faaaar below the average! O_o'' |
i think i'll call the good old "loot is random" :P |
4% chance to have 2 elements + other 32% chance to have 1 element
VS
64% chance to have NO elements...
I don't think this is correct. At MG level 4 you get a chance to loot 2 elements, but there is still a 80% chance that you don't get anything. Or at least this is my observation after doing 383 MG quests at level 4. |
for gem85:
If you are right I am less unlucky. Anyway even 383 quests are not good to make a sognificant statistic ;-)
We may need some words from the developers to misure how we are unlucky! ^__^ |

How many elements have you gotten since MG level 4? Have you kept track? I want to compare your number to mine.
Anyway, if the 20% number is correct (and I have said many many times that I don't believe it), then Vonemar is correct that we "should" have 64% chance of no element. |
I have some enchanted weapons and I had to buy some elements for them, so I totally lost track, sorry. If I get very bored sometime, I will run through my transfer logs and count them :) |

I finally sat down and analyzed the data I've accumulated over 460 MG4 quests, and you know what, I believe you're right.
I believe that people were mistaken that after MG4, you get two chances of getting elements. In fact, I believe you get only one chance, and if the chance roll succeeds in giving you an element, you get another roll to see if you get a second element (probably about 3-5% chance).
In other words, the algorithm is probably something like this:
n = random(1,100)
if (n <= 20) then
generate one random element
m = random(1,100)
if (m <= 5) then
generate another random element
end if
end if
For those of you who have done more than 400 MG4 quests, I bet that if you've kept track, you'd see that I'm right. If you've done 400 MG4 quests, I bet you don't get double 16 times. I bet you probably get something like 3-6 times.
Statistically speaking, if we do get two chances like everyone has been claiming, then the results I've gotten is virtually an impossibility (look at my character page). I've gotten a little over half of the expected value. |
40% chance at MG4 actually, 20% chance of first element, and 20% chance of second element, 20+20=40% (for one or another it's addition)
4% chance of getting 2 elements, 0.2*0.2=0.04 (for one appearing AND the other appearing it's multiplication)
or so I believe anyway :p |
Or so we've all been led to believe. I'm saying that's not true. |
I also find the rate seems lower, but as it's a set 20% chance that means you aren't guaranteed 1 every 5 mercs, maybe we all just have bad luck, or maybe it really isnt 20% afterall, we're not likely to find out either |
