AuthorBattles Difficulties
Ok, lemme see if I understand regarding how the level of difficulties in the various combats are done -

{1)Hunts
---------
The level of difficulty will go up every time u win a hunt. And if you lose, will go down the next time you hunt.

(2)Mercenary Quests
-------------------
The level of the types of caravans/armies/brigades etc, will go up {1} level every time you win that particular type of enemies. And if you lose, the level will NOT go down, but remain the same, the next time you face the same type of caravan .

(3)Thief Caravans
------------------
The level of difficulty will go up every time u win an ambush against a caravan. And if you lose, will go down the next time you face that faction caravan.

Did I get this right? If yes, then by how are the increase/decrease for (1) and (3)?

Thanks in advance.
i am not so sure hunts get easier if you lose, but could be that i didn't notice that. other stuff is correct

hunts increase 30% if you win alone. if you have an assist, it depends on how much you killed.

caravan increase is ~7%, decrease ~5%
The level of difficulty will go up every time u win a hunt.
by:
The amount of growth in case of victory: N=n*1.69^f
n = original amount in hunt
N = new amount net time
f = factions skill points that the main hunter gained during the hunt

And if you lose, will go down the next time you hunt.
no...

for thief caravans, 7% increse / 5% decrease
{1)Hunts
---------
The level of difficulty will go up every time u win a hunt. And if you lose, will NOT go down unless you got it random the next time you hunt.

Hunts you can get 38 magis in 2 hours even if you lose it

(2)Mercenary Quests
-------------------

There's no caravan in MG, only escorting caravans. There are many versions of caravans.

(3)Thief Caravans
------------------
The level of difficulty will go up every time u win an ambush against a caravan. And if you lose, will go down the next time you face that faction caravan.

I have no experience about this
1. it will never go down

2. right, never gets easier, just like hunts

3. also, right, but it gets alot harder than easier
1 second difference lol

Follow miss elf, she's been here quite a while
for thief caravans, 7% increse / 5% decrease

Hmmm.. so basically, after I have won 1 ambush, 2 consecutive losses will bring the difficulty level LOWER THAN THE ONE I WON before the 2 losses, right?

Thanks.
What I meant is 2 x -5% decrease would more then offset the 7% increase for winning. Pretty sure this is right.

So, how come we have very high level players not able to win ambushes 5-10 times in succession? (?)

the increase and decrease is different for different types of caravans (about 40+ types). so if players are lucky enough to get the same type successively, you will see a lose-lose-win-lose-lose-win pattern
In the same vein, the difficulty will start at the same very low level for hunts and quests even if u start doing your first hunt and quest at say level 11, right?

While for TG ambushes, the level will 'progress' in difficulty along with a player's combat level, yes/no? Meaning to say, if a player were to do his/her first ambush at level 6, the caravan will have much lower numbers of creature stacks then if he/she were to do his/her first ambush at say level 11?
right. merc quest will have same stats for any level you begin in.

right again, TG is easier (relatively) at lower levels.
Alrighty, tx gurumao.

So now we know for TG caravans, the stack/unit numbers increased in relation to a player's combat level. We also know TG caravans increase/decrease ~7%/~5% depending on a win/lost on the previous attempt in that particular caravan.

Now to the real Q -

Which of the above 2 rules applies if a player does a particular TG ambush at say level 7, and LOST. Then, according to 1 of the rules, when that player faces that same caravan again the next time, the numbers/stacks will be lowered, right? But what if he/she took a break from thieving and only faced the same caravan at say level 10 this time? Then, if we go by the OTHER rule, that particular caravan would have increased in difficulty due to the player's combat level.

So would that particular caravan have a bigger or smaller stack/unit number of creatures?

Thanks.
hunts dont change

merc quest dont change

thieving , next time u face the same caravan it will probably have different units , but if it has the same units as in last, it will have few units less
Then, if we go by the OTHER rule, that particular caravan would have increased in difficulty due to the player's combat level.

caravans are reset when you level up, if you are facing a certain type of caravan after 1or more levels, it will automatically have enough troops to suit your level, irrespective of whether you won/lost 2 levels back.
for thief caravans, 7% increse / 5% decrease

According to my sources, it's 5% increase for a win and a 2% decrease for a loss. So you need three losses to compensate for one win.
caravans are reset when you level up,

According to my sources, they are not reset. They are beefed up automatically - of 14% if I remember correctly.
Also, another fun thing on hunts - hunt sizes are based on the first time you meet a creature AND there is a default for each level.

So, if you "pass by" a creature, say, 2 Angels at level 8, you'll meet two Angels next time, forever, unless you fight them and win.

But if you didn't meet Angels at all since the beginning of the game and encounter them, say, at level 10, you'll instantly meet 12 of them or something because that's the default setting for encountering these creatures at level 10.

So, if you want to save hunts for later levels (easy faction points for example), you'd better "pass by" all of them so at least their levels are recorded.
some math about +7%, -5% ...

they do not add, so 2 decrease in 5% is not a decrease of 10%... follow the math below ...

say I start at difficulty level 100 ... and I win ...
then my difficulty level is raised to 100 + (0.07*100) = 107

assuming I loose next fight, mi difficulty level is now 107 - (107*0.05) = 101.45

Assuming I loose again, 101.45 - (101.45*0.05) = 96.38

And if I win now I wil get 103.13
caravan increase is ~7%, decrease ~5%

According to my sources, it's 5% increase for a win and a 2% decrease for a loss

Hmm.. so which one is it now? haha..

caravans are reset when you level up

According to my sources, they are not reset. They are beefed up automatically - of 14% if I remember correctly.

And which of this too

So, if you "pass by" a creature, say, 2 Angels at level 8, you'll meet two Angels next time, forever, unless you fight them and win.

But if you didn't meet Angels at all since the beginning of the game and encounter them, say, at level 10, you'll instantly meet 12 of them or something because that's the default setting for encountering these creatures at level 10.

And this is interesting. If it's true, I'm gonna click pass for hunts for a few months and so they are all recorded. haha.. :p
