AuthorThieving
Hi all,

I read that one can start thieving at lvl 6 (which I'm just a few battles away).

I don't know if I should start doing at lvl 6, since I heard it's hard.

My Q is -

Are thief missions like Merc quests - you start with the low (and easy) ones regardless of what level you do your first merc quest.

OR

Do thief missions correspond with the level you play at? The higher your level, the harder it is, even if it's the first one you do?

Thanks in advance.
To answer your question: both.

TG corresponds to your combat level and gets harder everytime you win.

By the way the average TG is much harder than the average MG.
My advice is you save up a good sum of gold before starting...it also costs a lot to complete the TG 2.

Cheers,
LS

So if this is true, it's better to start doing TG as soon as you are qualified to do it, yes?

Ermmm.. wealth is relative. How much is a "good sum"? :p

Thanks in advance.
"Qualified" is also relative. The difficulty at lvl 6 vs lvl 9 for example is the same in the sense that the players and caravans you ambush also level up alongside you. The trick is to be above average strength for your level.

You don't necessarily need a set amount of wealth. What you really need is a full set of arts and the ability to replace that set of arts. General rule of thumb is being able to do 150 full art combats.
Hi all,

I just got to lvl 6 (yaay..) and someone just offered to rent me a TGI, so I thought I would ask all my Qs in 1 thread (since they are all under the same topic anyway) before I decide if I should do it -

1) Why do MOST people do TGIs? For the gold? The bonus when u level up? Or... ?

2) If it's for the gold, what is the percentage that you'll 'definitely' make a profit (since the rental is NOT cheap)? I know this Q is tricky coz you might say it depends on how good the player is, so let's take a average player for this case.

3) If it's for the bonus, looking at the table, it's mostly Initiative we'll be getting. And since I already asked in another thread (about how important initiative is to Knights), the answers I got were that Initiative is almost insignificant since we Knights are s-l-o-w by nature anyway (only time it'll make a difference is when we fight against other knights). So is it worth the gold to rent and do TGIs, IF it's only for the bonus?

4) I see that for lvl 2 bonus, you get an "invitation". What is this invitation?

5) For lvl 3, you get the "Thief leader's trust". What is this?

6) What is the success rate (in % for say, the first 20 TGIs) for a lvl 6 knight to win TGIs in the beginning?

7) Where can I read up about how to start/set up an ambush?

8) If the way to level up in TG is the same as hunts, then I'll need 3000 (!) points to reach level 9, which is gonna take forever. So why do people rent for 1 week/month? You'll probably have to rent for years to complete the highest level, no?

If that's the case, why even bother renting? Might as well either don't do TGIs, or save up till u can afford to buy one, and then start. Or am I missing something here?

Sorry if I have many Qs, just wanna ask all in 1 go, instead of creating a thread of 1-post, 1-sentence reply, and then lock it. :p

Thanks in advance. :)

1) Why do MOST people do TGIs? For the gold? The bonus when u level up? Or... ?

-For fun
-For Initiative bonus from TG level
-For Exp / FSP
-For Gold but not when renting becuase you use a lot of gold during that to get TG Lv 2 ASAP

2) If it's for the gold, what is the percentage that you'll 'definitely' make a profit (since the rental is NOT cheap)? I know this Q is tricky coz you might say it depends on how good the player is, so let's take a average player for this case.

- Only small amount of gold you will get and you may need a lot of gold to do that.

- Although initiative are not significant for knight (when consider in artifact) but extra initiative will be nice.

4) I see that for lvl 2 bonus, you get an "invitation". What is this invitation?

-The same invitation you renting. When you renting Invitation you consume it So you need TG Lv2 to get invitation to pay back.

5) For lvl 3, you get the "Thief leader's trust". What is this?
- Nothing yet.

6) What is the success rate (in % for say, the first 20 TGIs) for a lvl 6 knight to win TGIs in the beginning?
- I dont have information about knight, I play Barb Lv 7 no diamond at that time about 70 % win. In average you should win about 60-80%.

7) Where can I read up about how to start/set up an ambush?

- Just look combat log of thieving at same faction / your combat level

8) If the way to level up in TG is the same as hunts, then I'll need 3000 (!) points to reach level 9, which is gonna take forever. So why do people rent for 1 week/month? You'll probably have to rent for years to complete the highest level, no?

- That because you don't know the 4) answer. I said again, When you renting TG Invitation you use it and it will disappear, so you need to get TG Lv 2 to get TG invitation to pay back. So please consider your ability before renting because if you fail it (return in 4 weeks) you will get ban.
2) If it's for the gold, what is the percentage that you'll 'definitely' make a profit (since the rental is NOT cheap)? I know this Q is tricky coz you might say it depends on how good the player is, so let's take a average player for this case.
For TG2 you lose gold but when you get to TG4 you get a new TGI that you keep for yourself and this way you earn about 250k(suppose you spend 150k on renting and arts.

As ra115 said, extra ini can always be nice, good for griffs and boosts the effects of morale bonuses that knights need.
- That because you don't know the 4) answer. I said again, When you renting TG Invitation you use it and it will disappear, so you need to get TG Lv 2 to get TG invitation to pay back. So please consider your ability before renting because if you fail it (return in 4 weeks) you will get ban.

?? Hmm.. this is NOT good.

A player can get ban just coz he/she sux at the game?? I mean, a player may not be good at the game, but LOVES the game, and yet, he/she will get ban for losing battles? Hmm.. something not right somewhere.. in my humble opinion..

Oh well, this sux. I dun mind losing gold, I can always work harder and earn it back. But to get ban(?!) for losing battles (which is more or less random to begin with since the enemies we are facing is not fixed) is .. ermm.. erm... SIGH...

Have-to-think-hard Knight.

PS: Thanks all for the replies and link. Certainly useful, even if I decide not to do TGIs. :)
(suppose you spend 150k on renting and arts.
actually you dont need to spend that much... for lv 6 knight and demon, its not hard to get to tg 2 with just minimum arts

if you fail it (return in 4 weeks) you will get ban.
there's quite a few people who returned tgi after more than 4 weeks, im_a_noob for example returned the tgi in more than 3 mths
