AuthorAnyone notice something about Wizard spells?
Tempest (knock target back) seems to work fine.

But Dominion of Frost (freeze troops for .3 combat turns, initiative becomes equal to zero) does not?

I am new to Wizard faction so I might not know how this Frost talent works, or if it works.

Any suggestions/observations would be helpful.

Cheers,
LS
I think but sure...I think that when it says equal to zero. It will set the initiative to 0 for about 1 more creatures turn and then back to its normal.

As 0.5 is half a turn of the hero so 0.3 is 1 quarter of heros turn.

But im not sure on this...
It almost seems like the wording, suggests that it is the "Same" as Tempest lol. But clearly, the effects are not...so I was wondering if the "freezing" effect shows up for 2nd combat turn? Or does it simply not work?
No, the effects are not the same. For Tempest, the target is knocked back 30% of "accummulated" initiative. So unless the target is almost ready to go next, it is likely knocked back much less than .3 ATB. For example, if its accummulative initiative is .5 at the time it got hit with the spell, it will be knocked back by only .15 ATB.

That means, for Tempest, you don't want to use the spell on a creature that just took its turn.

Also, if you read the description of Dominion of Frost carefully, the effect is not the same as some creatures' ability to knock back. Can you tell the difference?
Frost 'PAUSE' creature(s) for 0.3 turn. The creatures do not gain any initiative for 0.3 of the turn.

Tempest cuts the initiative the creature already have by 30%.
Sorry if this is outta topic, but thought I'll ask it here instead of wasting a topic space for a 1-line answer.

Ermm.. what does "ATB" means?

Thanks in advance. :)

Dominion of Frost/Tempest are too crap for 12 talent points. Only Dominion of fire is worth it if you want to play melee. Otherwise its simply better to just get basic chaos magic and invest rest points in erudition/sorcery trees. Hero playing 15% faster ( that's what you get with 12 talent points if you do some simple math :P ) is FAR better than delaying one stack for 0.3 turns.
Well Tempest is pretty useful against very slow units, like Guardians ;)

But besides that, indeed, not a very good talent. The problem with hero playing 15% faster is that it is only for single spells anyway, and most pvp is mass spells.

Thanks for all the info. But the "freeze" effect is pretty dang worthless, as you have all mentioned.
