Like or dislike, the site is now in AJAX mode! The site is much faster than before, yepee! Thanks admins!
ps.am i late? |
AJAX? |
Asynchronous JavaScript and XML
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_(programming)
"With Ajax, web applications can retrieve data from the server asynchronously in the background without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page."
Which means the top banner won't update with the main content, which makes the site a lot faster. |
ive no idea what on earth that means but if the site runs faster yipee!!! |

Good news.
Thanx for info :)
I wonder how you checked it? |
I just felt a bit weird with the site and noticed the banner won't update by itself, so I knew it directly coz we tried it once in school. But mine never worked its pretty complicated =) |
i dont see any difference. |
Sorry to disappoint you but the site is not in ajax mode.
This is also not advisable as search engines do not index ajax and so on your site will almost be invisable for google / yahoo / etc.
the site menus of the market are java, not even sure if it is ajax but the rest is not. If you select for example "Tavern" the whole site reloads, also the top banner, you can see this best on a slow connection.
If it was ajax, everything that would not be changed would not refresh / reload and so the top banner would stay the same, and only the lower part of the site woulf refresh. This is not the case.
Sorry to disappoint you!! |
and btw ajax is not that complicated, just have to know how to do it :D |
Have you tried to use IE? In my IE7 the whole site works like ajax. |
It does not in firefox and IE6, which means they have made it browser related, which is highly unlikely due to the constrain this does on the server and the time this needs for coding.
Also as this site needs members to stay working, SEO is a big thing for the makers, if they implement AJAX they kill themselves on that part, as all data stored under AJAX scipts is ignored by search engines.
If it is true then i hope a moderator can confirm it but i highly doubt it.
Is there no function in IE7 which does not refresh parts of a site if the destination page displays the same stuff, like top menu's?? |

AJAX->
Asynchronous Javascript + DHTML + DOM + CSS + XMLHttp + XML + ...
but I think this webgame is like flex/flash . |
@iccs1
not all is flash so there is of course also html and css but for me there is surely no ajax to be found.
what is ajax? As explained above
Example: am i allowed to post a link to a different site, totally not related to gaming to show ajax working?? |
yes, i allow you.
btw, the top banner is not static. it contains objects that need to be reloaded as well as the rest of the page like the health and mana indicators, the small new mail notificator on the character tab, the hunting assistance notificator on the battles tab, the red color on all tabs when your battle got started, the gold amount when you just have sold something or have received a tranfer... probably some other stuff |
