Hello to all!
I think that shrews are too strong: they can, on the first turn, attack, no receiving retaitalion and run away! |
I think its a good balance since they have no real good range units. |
on first turn elven bowmen, skeletal bowmen, orcs, etc shoots with no retaliation.
why shouldn't shrews be able to do the same thing? |
shrews are very weak against range units. |
chavo how do you know shrews are too strong, when you are level 5? No matter the fact that it is forbidden to create topics to make unit/faction stronger/weaker, shrews are great for thieving but that could be their main advantage..And they dont use arrows to "shoot". Thats all. :-) |

Only that shrews are bugged atm. They dont benefit from archery :( |

No, that's the price they pay for being able to:
1. Run away (speed)
2. High init
3. "Shoot" point-blank |
Oh, I forgot:
4. Unlimited ammo
5. No melee penalty
6. 9 (kinda of) Range instead of 6 |
and they profit from offence instead of archery |
shrew
1. high init (1.5 times ordinary ranged units)
2. no range penalty (speed 8 can reach any large creatures)
3. no retaliation, no melee penalty( most archers do)
4. hit & run
5. better melee talent than ranged
don't mention archery when we r talking shrew |
7. max shooting distance: 9 instead of unlimited
8. can't be protected by other units surrounding them (like elves surrounded by druids or bowmens surrounded by monks) or they can't shoot.
9. can't shoot on ennemie's surrounded units (need to kill the blocking units first)

at the current stage,
high lvl factions strenthen their armies
DE --> ++ upgraded tier 2
Wiz --> ++ upgraded tier 2
Knight --> ++ upgraded tier 3
Barb --> ++ upgraded tier 2
Elf --> ++ upgraded tier 2
Necro --> ++ upgraded tier 1?
sounds fair, but DE overpowered above lvl 8, then lvl 12 with lizard assailants. |

Gee... you had to mention all those drawbacks....
Makes me want to switch back to knight and use xbow.

At level 8 I did:

Crossbowmen deal 2860 damage to Goblins. 534 perish.
I never seen my shrews do anything like that. |
i don't think we are overpowered.
just look at the hunt records at level8:
best hunters are wizards, then elves.
DE are only 3rd, and maybe 4th (it's close with necros) |
#13 optional, in pvp or merc jobs, tier 3 maybe better than xbow, well, xbow do rock within near range.
#14 DE has the most "useless" racial skill, so they have stronger creatures. that sounds ok, and u can switch faction as ur will. DE is the easist to increase fsp while wiz is the hardest.
we need to see what's going on after we have all 7 tiers upgraded, then talk about balance. |

my max is 917 with my shrews :(
i did 508 without luck, i can expect to reach 1000 with luck.
anyway, 2860...absolutely impossible, i would need 100 shrews to do that. |

the highest possible damage so far made in one strike should be done by efk. |

I don't know.... a well placed hydra does very well too. |

1. efk outnumber hydra
2. hydra does only 6 enemies at max
3. elf has better talent pts with luck
4. elf has favored enemies |
