Hi there, I was just wondering about this description...
"These small cabins, situated high upon the ground amidst dense foliage, are dwelled by the most experienced sylvan bowmen. From 7 creatures upward can be recruited."
Shouldn't the "upon" be "above"?

It could be.
It could also be that there actually is a "second layer" of ground up in the dense foliage.
I have no idea what the original creator meant, but both are possibilities. ;) |

Sorry Agelage, I don't know if you are a native English speaker or not but Rookesy is correct. The adverb/preposition "high upon" should be "high above".
There are a few other minor English errors too that I have found, such as: if you put your cursor over the word Castle in the Character Tab, it reads: "Your Castle. Building new structures. Fraction change". Should read: Faction change. |
...However fascinating I find Enlish grammar, I do think that this is the wrong part of the forum for it.
I will however keep the thread open for discussion, but move it to the off-game section.
Anyhow... "Are dwelled by" doesn't strike me as incorrect English grammar, since the grammar itself can be used that way. |

Ah, and also, I am not a native, but I am a researchfellow of the English language. I probably know more about it than most native speakers.
And I am not wrong in that part. It can actually be meant as "high upon", since it is possible that there are two layers of ground. That's right, there can be ground above the ground.
Now, I won't argue about the translators original intention, but I will argue for the possibility of "high upon" being correct English.
Also, I do realise that it is highly likely that it is meant to be "high above". |
