True, and that's a good way to save up for arts. Also sell your elements and get your Laborer's Guild up.
I know arts sound expensive and whatnot... but really they aren't so bad when you get the hang of it.
Save up for a full set, and a hunting set. Use the hunting set whenever you hunt (the hunting set should be fairly cheap) and use the full arts set for Thief missions and difficult Merc Missions. As long as you're enrolling whenever you can you should be able to sell the broken arts and buy the same ones again with a little extra gold left over.

patiently wait for dragons in RoH (no gold but enough xp and sp if you win)
for faster dragon attacks try baiting with pretty damsels in distress :P |

Dragons do attack even when you don't equip any artifact. I've been doing that... until today, when I found out they now 'cheat' you of exp and sp if you lose.
Another way is to walk around looking for thieves. :P Without arts, not a lot of chance to win maybe, but you get a quite large amount of exp and skill even for a loss. |

They do? Wonder if it's a recent change or random was playing jokes on me and quite a few more people :P
But you're right - if xp/fsp from dragons was cut jus loke the other hunts, then ambushes is pretty much the only way of getting xp/fsp w/o artifacts. Will it be a quite large amount depends on what faction the thief belongs to :P |
haha yep.. and perhaps what faction you are.
It's probably not a recent change since I fought them twice without arts in mid-Jan. |
