Hi, creating a new one since the old is outdated!

I just turned lvl 8 and must say Im surprised at how crappy barbarians suddenly became compared to other factions. At level 7 I did alright in single combat against any faction and was able to win most 3vs3 but at lvl 8 it seems we lose a lot.

First off, the other factions get a new magic school lvl 2 ie new spells, but we dont get battle academy lvl 2 until we reach lvl 10 (did this use to be at lvl 8 before??).. Thus our hero's fall behind in efficiency compared to other players heroes.

Then lets have a look at our new troops the rocs... Sure theyre fast.. thats good, and they do have a great range.. also good. However compared to other factions new troops ours have too little hp to survive for long and we only get 6... thats the same amount as DE's get and arent they supposed to get less troops because of their troops having more hp and being better all over? As for their ability transport.. it just doesnt allow to transfer enough forces for it to be useful... Now if this troop had return flight, or more hp it would be a different story but as it is it just doesnt measure up...

As for the wolf raiders, yes they arent bad.. however they also die too easily and comared to EFK's, Screws and so on they just dont measure up.

At lvl 7 the barbarian could atleast hold his own with his artillery.. however at lvl 8 we dont get any extra shots at all, thus it seems our artillery becomes too weak compared to all the other classes.

What do you other barbarians who reached or passed lvl 8 think? is this just my first impression or do you agree that the barbarian is far imbalanced compared to other classes at lvl 8?

combat schools. 4 that u need level 2. level up and build it

rocs transport ability can be absolutely awesome in several cases.

against knights and their pesky crossbowmen hiding in corners: have your roc wait, create an opening in the swords wall with a minor stack of orcs (usually two 1-2 unit sword-stacks stand in front of cross and monk. stun cross with hero. if initiative doesn't act up too badly, your waited rocs move again before your ogres. have 6 rocs transport 12 ogres over to the knight, ogres can move into the gap, attack crossbows and block both shooters, giving the wolves the time needed to come close... worked quite often at level 8 ;)
That's the classic, and can cause havoc with any ranged unit, but with cross it works best because they don't even move before ogres come close. And don't forget: Rocs can transport allied creatures, too! 12 Vampires, for example ;) it can get quite annoying for the other team to have those things within their ranks from turn one. plus, you can always use them as one-hit wonders against shrews, it quite ofent pays to lose the rocs when you can get a good hit on the shrews in exchange, plus your opponents will concentrate on killing them immediately instead of setting up their troops like they would otherwise, giving you more space to maneuver your wolves etc.

But all in all, yes, barbarians aren't quite as domineering as they are before level 8, but they can deal incredible amounts of damage with wolf raiders and stunning blow stays very useful. You just need to have the tactical skill to play them well, and you can cause havoc.
i wouldn't say roc is the worst, they absolutely destroy hell horses, their gating becomes essential vs. barbs.

I realise I have to change tactics quite a bit compared to on lvl 7, my issue was with risking to lose all rocs after one move because of for example ending up on middle of battlefield after transporting troops. With their comparatively low hp they risk dying a bit too easily. Your advice will be helpful when trying to create a new playstyle! As opposed to most barbarians I went all out defence with talents at lvl 7, which meant my troops usually survived first one or two hits from enemy troops. Im experimenting with my setup and everything at the moment and hopefully I will still be able to pose a threat in groupbattles...

It was a very tough feeling coming from what I was able to do with correct strategical playing at lvl 7, to fights on lvl 8 though, overall the other classes seems to have gained a lot more than barbarians from the lvlup.

Do you know if battle academy 2 was always lvl 10? or did it use to be at lvl 8?
as far as i know it always was at level 10
i havent really decided how good the magic-proof is
does it get better later on
i have heard that barb pwn wiz in later levels because of magic proof
let me put it this way.

Normal troops I poison for 40 dmg 3 turns with mass poison.

Vs a lvl 7 faction barb I cause 21 dmg for 3 turns. That's almost HALF the damage reduced.

That makes them very resistant to damaging spells.

I can only imagine it being harsh on Wizards too. Especially because wolf raiders as well as orcs can pack a massive wallet, not even mentioning ogres and stunning blow.

In total: Barbarians with high faction lvl DO own high lvl wizards.

Barbarians Are awesome as a de at lv 7, i'm terrified of their numbers of hob goblins. Their ogres defending their orcs killing our rouges. But at lv 8 they're screwed against De's too many large creatures most of the time the shrews can kill the wolf raiders. IF the wolf raider gets to attack anything without retail. Then the thing is dead..
at lvl 7 barbarians are excellent and really fun to play since you have to and can play very tactical.
any tips 4 lv 5 barb?
play a bit defenceive relying on orcs to kill other players ranged units, forcing them to come to you then thats when your hobgoblins and ogres shine.

Try to attack the Front Lines Enemies troops with ur Rocs .. try to transport Ogres to block archers or to any holes that adjacent to ur enemies main troops .... Rocs have speed 8 .. means they can attack directly at the first turn ...

Against DE with Shrews .. The Shrews will kill ur Rocs first .. at the Rocs turn, Kill the Shrews .. before they do damage again .. kill Others with WOLF RAIDERS and Orcs from range .. ok /?
