looks like this game might be in trouble... |
I think there will be no problem!
www.hommkingdoms.com
look at the bottom page! there's heroeswm! and hommkingdoms is the official ubisoft's HOMM game.
So surely there will be no problem. |
err where? the

part? I don't see heroeswm anywhere... |
meh i think we'd expect a name change at most |
hope so :p I like this game! |
well, name change, unit model change, unit name changes, castle changes... if it goes far, faction changes, resource type changes, hero skill system changes. All that and more are copied from HoMMV with balancing changes to creature values and an altered level progression. The (until now) really new things are the different guilds one can improve in and of course the fixed army and 15 min regeneration (again needed for web game adaption) or the slighty altered talent system.
But all in all, i believe this game will either have to pay royalties to Ubisoft (and thus will introduce more "donation options") or, what i unfortunately consider more probable, will be shut down when Ubisoft launches it's own game :( because of the amount of change needed to this game to make it really distinguished from HoMM.
And i don't want that... |
The real problems will occur when www.hommkingdoms.com will be released. Not because of a legal action, but simply because www.hommkingdoms.com seems to be SO MUCH better than HWM... Screen shots just can't compare.
Kingdoms is Web-based, uses 3d technology, is HoMM-style, is official (and therefore reliable) and it might well be cheaper, too.
Sure, you have to buy a HoMM box to play it (or so I have understood) but apart from that it seems free to play. HWM, on the other hand, is free to play but darn expensive if you want to do anything beyond the basics (20ˆ for a mere unit upgrade, 80ˆ(!) for a thieves' guild invitation...)
I think HWM team will have to resume work on their business model very soon. |
Amster thinks he is very clever using his referral link in this post:
"Join us now and become the best! http://www.heroeswm.com/?rid=12321 with this referal link"
I think that he must be blocked |
i dunno whether this game is a copyright infringement but even so no action has been done yet.
And i think using the reference link for other strangers to use is illegal.the reference link should only be passed to friends, family or others to use,and not as spam or an advertising link.
correct me if i'm wrong but thats wad i know. |
After saw the site... it's quiet sure that the game has similiar aspect.
Look at the knight troops... they all the same. |
Posting that referal link at ubi forum is like... vendoring pirated vcd at the front entrance of a movie theater? certainly not a well thought move.
That link at their forum was 2 monthes old, so I guess no legal action were taken by ubi yet, probably they don't bother non-profit flash webgame sites that in some way helps promotes their product HoMM5.
However now Howm has donations system and actually makes money off ubi/nival/nwc's intellectual property, ubi is more likely to take some actions. |
actually HOMMK you have to pay per month to get access to the full game, also as i understand it the battles are rock, paper, scissors (archers melee and flying) this is to my understanding anyhoo, hardly like HOWM. |

that's the right page, :| it changed from yesterday, as i said before look at the bottom page, they're advertising heroeswm ^^ |
nice! that really upgrades heroeswm.com even futher in my already high opinion and shows they seem to have come to an agreement since the first cited forum thread. great job! |
