hi.
why is it when i bid, the next screen that pops up says
"Bid of XXX has been accepted!
You've been outbid by another player!" | | Because someone have a higher bid | | are you bidding more than the current bid? | | yes. as in, it seems like they manage to instantaneously out bid me | | isnt that....strange? | I thought it was strange too when it happened to me, but i understood when it was explained to me.
What happens is that the guy that is constantly outbiding you has previously set up a higher bid, so the auctioneer immediatly raises the value a bit more until it reaches the bid he made.
For example, you bid 100, but the guy had bid 300 previously. Because the system is set up to prevent big bids from suddenly showing up, he will automatically bid the minimal interval over your own bid until it reaches 300. This happens because it gives a chance for the bidder to win by the minimal difference, hence not wasting any more cash than necessary. This way, assuming he's the last one on the auction, he'll get the prize for less than 300, but still more than anyone else. |
