Author | Switch to other faction easier |
This game is great, very great.
There are 6 factions here. It means that we can play as an elf, a barbarian, a wizard etc.
If we are bored with a faction or if we want to try something new, we can switch to other faction "easily".
Easily? Is that true? Easily?
Unfortunately, the answer is no.
Racial skill level and distribution of skill parameter are the problem.
If we switch to other faction, we have to start our racial skill level from zero.
It means, as new faction hero, we are very weak compared with other hero in same faction.
Yes we could increase it, but how?
Fight against other heroes will be very difficult to win, sometimes hunting will be difficult too.
The other problem is distribution of skill parameter.
For example, i am an elf, i choose +9 attack with only +1 knowledge.
How can I switch to Wizard, which should have high spell power and knowledge?
Using potion? When I back to Elf, I will have to drink a lot of potion again :(
So, these are my suggestion:
1. There are minimal racial skill level.
Minimal racial skill level = Highest racial skill level -2
The skill level point itself remain on original point.
For example:
I am elf with statistic:
Knight: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Necromancer: 0 (6.20) +13.8
Wizard: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Elf: 5 (490.68) +9.3
Barbarian: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Dark elf: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Demon: 0 (0.00) +20.0
My highest racial skill level is 5 so the minimum racial skill level for other faction is 3.
So, if I switch to Necro, the statistic will be:
Knight: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Necromancer: 3 (6.20) +13.8
Wizard: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Elf: 5 (490.68) +9.3
Barbarian: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Dark elf: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Demon: 0 (0.00) +20.0
You can see that although my Necro racial skill point only 6.20 but computer should set my Necro racial skill level to 3.
If I continuously play as Necro and my racial skill point increase to 93.15 (for example) then my Necro racial skill level increase to 4. Here are the statistic.
Knight: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Necromancer: 4 (93.50) +76.50
Wizard: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Elf: 5 (490.68) +9.3
Barbarian: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Dark elf: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Demon: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Suppose if i switch again to Barbarian then statistic will be:
Knight: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Necromancer: 4 (93.50) +76.50
Wizard: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Elf: 5 (490.68) +9.3
Barbarian: 3 (0.00) +20.0
Dark elf: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Demon: 0 (0.00) +20.0
If I play as Barbarian only for a while and my Barb racial skill point only increase to 12.11 and I back to Elf then the statistic will be:
Knight: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Necromancer: 4 (93.50) +76.50
Wizard: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Elf: 5 (490.68) +9.3
Barbarian: 0 (12.11) +7.99
Dark elf: 0 (0.00) +20.0
Demon: 0 (0.00) +20.0
2. We can have different distribution of skill parameter for every faction.
It means that When I am an Elf I have:
Attack: +9
Defence: +1
Spell Power: 0
Knowledge: +1
(total: 11)
I switch to Wizard, for first time as Wizard, all skill parameter will be zero and I can choose how to distribute them.
Suppose I set my Wizard skill parameter like this:
Attack: +2
Defence: +2
Spell Power: +2
Knowledge: +5
(total:11)
If I back to Elf then my distribution of skill parameter will back to Elf's setting.
3. Castle stuff
In this case, I agree that castle has to be build one by one for every faction. So, no rule changes.
Maybe many people will disagree with this idea but think about it again.
If we can have fun by experiencing all faction in this game, why not? | Yeah , I think what you have suggested is quite good and alleviates the boredom of playing just 1 faction .
But then , what about the few who play a lot of factions but are not good with any of them ? (Jack of all trades , master of none) What will happen to them if this is implemented ? | But then , what about the few who play a lot of factions but are not good with any of them ? No problem with that. As long as that hero has no racial skill level at level 3, this will not affect anything to him. | Your idea is very good.
I switched faction late (Dark Elf -> Elf at level 5) and had a hard time in my first battles, until my faction level reached 2 or 3. I even attempted to play Wizard at level 6 with a faction level of zero - impossible. Or you are ready to suffer a lot.
I wonder why the game has been designed to be so hard to switch faction at high level? | Because u get resistance against a race :) | SpecialOne's proposal would change nothing to this resistance: it could just be based on "real" faction level and the problem would not exist. |
