I'm probally as frustrated as others when other players timeout in group battles. Most of the time it seems to be because people are away from the computer for a short time. I doen't know what the longterm plans are for dealing with the problem, but I have a solution on a short term.
Instead of the timeout giving a default "wait" command, I think it should give a "defend" command. That way it will take longer before that unit has to move again.
That has two benefits. First, the player will have more time to returned to the computer before the unit has to move agian, hopefully. And second, you doen't get so many consecutive timeouts, so play should be able to progress a bit.
