Ah, the ever-observant guru.
good questions, good eye.
wizard and stealth, and dont forget about Ahrnald and his ability to ...send messages to the guards? =D
think think think...who could the Empress be...? that lil secret is a long LONG way off, dear readers. hmm maybe a closer read...did Skunder the Imperial Chronicles SAVE or SERVE her father?? hmmmm |
|
But 3 updates in 1 week isnt that bad now is it? =D
No but we want more! :D Especially before I disappear again due to RL stuff :P
By the way, it was worth the wait for me to read the latest updates...even if i am kinda late :) |
:D yay thanks for the update! your all-nighter was more that worth it...
although i must say i wasn't prepared for Cyrallin's all out destruction O.o
i was hoping more of a stealth mission... but this is more theatrical!
but then again, the power of love does make people act recklessly, to the point of bringing down fortresses!
old sword spinning Guilm tries to steal their thunder...almost literally. but this prison-break was a one-man er.. a one-lady show. Guilm never even got close to the edge of the spotlight :p
ooh griffin riders in the next entry!
now i'll selfishly pester you for another quick update |
"but then again, the power of love does make people act recklessly, to the point of bringing down fortresses!"
my thoughts exactly. i've tried to portay Cyrallin as a reckless and over-the-top person who is not overly concerned with rules. Consider how the entry when she first met Enithian. She purposely goes against 'etiquette' which is overridden by emotion. Janneria on the other hand would have been about the stealth mission, shooting down crossbowmen even in the late hours of the night until she could somehow breach the walls herself. =D
"now i'll selfishly pester you for another quick update"
Though i'd expect nothing less, i can't wait.
oh and thx Lil Sis. Glad u got around to reading some of ur big brother's writing...eventually. =P |
the story is great it reminds me of the lord of the ring when the two armies attacked each other. I find it quite interesting how a fortress for holding prisoner held little guards. If indeed its a fortress for prisoner there should be at least a hundred men guarding if not more. Also skund I think you kind of made the armie of wizard overwhelming considering all the spell the princes had. If I'm not mistaken the king and some of his general would have stronger spell that would wipe out the knights army before they reach the wiz. I say this beacuase it only took one spell to knock down a fortress with that much power how will the knight servive a battle if wiz start using for example earthquake magic and then lightning and meteor. simply put I think you made wiz in your story for the moment a lot stronger then knights right now. Not say that your story is bad but I think you have made Guild a bit like woverine. His wounds heal fast and he is fighting everything with little resistance and some luck lol. anywho its a great read can't wait to see the upcoming. :) |
lol sorry for the typing errors :)
Guild = Guilm
Princes = princess |
"If I'm not mistaken the king and some of his general would have stronger spell that would wipe out the knights army before they reach the wiz."
*scratches head* I thought I explained that...she being the princess was not held back at all, or was she?
"simply put I think you made wiz in your story for the moment a lot stronger then knights right now"
possibly the Key words there are "right now". As in we haven't really seen what knights can do yet have we. Yeah, the fortress guards were plowed over quickly, but then they were caught by surprise, only had 11 guards, and weren't of very high 'level'. Yeah the fortress might have seemed a little under-manned, but then again, they did have an impenetrable wall to stand behind and that might have played to their egos a bit.
thx for the post, always glad to hear some +/-'s |
Yeah the fortress might have seemed a little under-manned, but then again, they did have an impenetrable wall to stand behind and that might have played to their egos a bit.
lol now you have made knights sound arrogant. They think its an impenetrable defense so they have little guard. In my oppinion if the King of the kight imprison his son for treason he would suspect that there would be wiz coming to rescue his son since he think his son have turned on his own people with that said he would have sent for more guard to ensure that his son don't escape and pay for his crime guilty or not. and if an impenetrable fortress can be undo by one spell then what are a few men in armed suit going to do against magic that effect land scape and nature like earth quake and lightning. even with magical shield it won't protect knight from let say a spell the king of wiz cast called tornado griffons will be dead then wiz cast earth quake then ground troops are dead remember magical shield can't protect from weather spell like tornado and earth quake. |
assuming that knights really know the power and extent of wizards...rememeber, the story takes place some time in the past and the factions haven't had too much interaction with each other at this time...
but maybe you're right. maybe king would have set a larger garrison to the Impenetrable Fortress, maybe they would have just expected wizards not to find out about it, maybe they thought they'd be crushing the wizards within a few days anyways and the wizzies would have their hands full...idk, maybe the king was an insane and grieving old man who recently gained a position that was too big for his breeches. For whatever reason, Khoa, the fortress fell and i can only think of one thing atm, 'no fury like a woman scorned'. |
lol nice thanx for the answer :P |
hey skunder looks like the waves r not showing up now .......
this update rocked mate !!!!! :D |
thx again beast
yeah, i had originally expected to be able to finish up the first CoS within 1-2 weeks, but RL took over and had to think through the details of the story. so with that said, i AM currently writing the next update, it's looking to be quite a long one, and just so all can be aware - the CoS: part 1 is coming to an end shortly. get it while it's hot!! |

On the other hand, some guards might believe it was a mistake and try to save the prince of the kingdom to save the king from making an irreversible mistake, or more spies within their ranks. As with any kingdom, there are not that many whom the King can trust completely (especially with such suspected treachery). Sending most of them to command the war with the wizards instead of guarding the imprisoned spies would be the more likely choice.
In any case, the guards at the prison would be expecting to contend with spies planted in their own midst, and not a strike force. |
nice thoughts ppl. always good to get a fresh perspective from readers. =)
And P2: E:6 is up enjoy and happy reading. Should take u a bit longer to read this time. Yup! 8 posts of the CoS just for u being so patient for a ~10 day hiatus.
lots of goodies in this one. ofc Guilm and his dancing blades, Cyrallin and some special spells, we get word about an old friend thought lost to us, and also the events leading up to the grand finale of the Chronicles of Skunder.
Countdown is on. |
The story's ending, that sucks man. But I guess all good things must come to an end eh? I'm hoping for another one if the current story is about to reach it's climax. The way you portrayed those minotaurs made them sound like thugs. xD Sucks for Guilm how he killed those dark elves for nothing except to kill them ^^. Awesome entry overall. |
the DE army revealed!
Guilm continued, “It is worse than that I fear. There are other creatures here. Hoofed men that walk on two legs, some sort of large reptilian beast, as well as -” Guilm pointed to a large impression in the ground. It was as wide as a full shield and it had sank into the hard earth forming the hole. “Guilm exclaimed, “Something this large must be the size of a home.”
hydras the size of homes! beware the aura of awesomeness(c) !!
the mino fight was awesome! brute strength vs magic, dexterity and discipline. i was reminded of a book i read ages back, where the author mentions how minos think : "it's a mooving object, mooow it down!" :p
Guilm is amazing again with his battledance cleaving through darkelves, though i did expect a better fight from the underground kins, guess they were too blinded to fight back.
gilric and guilm fighting :(
i thought Skyn'da was being held captive in the demon fortress...
Countdown is on. can't wait for the next one. |
“Who assassinated your uncle!” She called out. “It’s the demons Gil. It has to be.”
and there i was thinking they assassinaters were the dark elfs, or maybe they had a hand in the conspiracy along with the demons !!!
Are the de an indeendent army getting revenge on their old brothers or have finally the demons and de's reunited ??? |
great story skunder, thanks for the effort :)
my only grouse is why DEs gotta be the bad guys :'s but i'm enjoying the story still ^_^ |
216. "But I guess all good things must come to an end eh?"
Yeah 'they' do say that dont they. =( and thx
217. "i thought Skyn'da was being held captive in the demon fortress..."
hmmm..what ever gave u that impression. ;)
218. Important thing to consider when reading a story or hearing anything from an individual really: who is speaking, what information do they have or not have....
219. This question has been posed before, but really, who said they were the bad guys? 'evil' is always in the eye of the beholder. The person who steals bread for his family is considered a hero for getting them food, whereas the man he stole it from considers him the theif. something to ponder.
busy week ahead of me in RL, expect an update sometime next week. |
