Author | Prospects of TGI market price |
for BrownBear:
Actually the auction didn't do anything like you imagined. Resellers bought most of the TGIs who will sell for profit. The only reason why the resellers didn't bid the prices even higher because they didn't believe they could profit enough. So a few actual users were able to buy now. In the days and weeks to come when TGI users get enough gold or want to buy a TGI, they will pay inflated prices to the resellers.
No one would actually wait for another Empire TGI auction.
1.) This was the first and only time it happened. A repeat isn't guaranteed.
2.) Who knows when the next one could be? Months, years, never?
3.) TGI users want to buy the TGI rather quickly and then don't want to wait for months/years and being uncertain when/if an auction would happen. It would be a different matter if Empire actually announced the exact date the next one would occur.
4.) TGI prices and availability may change (more uncertainty) as they wait. |
@Patheon your points seem right but still I would be keen to wait for better offer than 1,1k if I wanted to buy TGI and I do. I will remember that during the auction the end prices started from 1,000k and it should be possible to get such prices on the market again.
As long as resellers did not resell the TGI they just bought, they will not buy another TGI and in that time they will not create demand for another speculation. For this reason if someone just got to TG lvl 5 will probably put his offer at lower level than prices of resellers and its offer will not be taken by reseller as resellers have now less cash and more TGI.
Answering to your points:
1) Yes, that right
2)Yes
3) Yes but still those who were in rush the most and had most of cash, have just bought TGI, the ones that remained have less cash or are more patient for better price
4) Top lvl for TGI is 1,200k so as the prices are near the top, there is nothing bad and risky going to happen for players that seek to buy for their own use. Terms can only stay similar or get better. |
To make 'financially less fortunate' people a bit more competitive, the luxury tax should be applied ONLY after there was a transaction of said item/estate i.e. the bidder who was once in possession of such item/estate and want a second (OR MORE) must pay a luxury tax.
The game shouldn't punish players for being rich. Maybe they're lucky, sure. But maybe they're just really skillful in the finance department. No one complains if a skillful player beats a sucky player in battle. The market is just another battlefield. |
doesnt matter, receiver pays the tax for the auctions :) :) |
The game shouldn't punish players for being rich
Do you believe a democratic government is a bully and is punishing high-income earners by having higher income tax?
skillful in the finance department
I am not convinced that the ability to accumulate a fortune in this 'economically-simple' game due to skill... patience and dedication possibly. Skill? Through skill/tactics you can win against a superior-equipped player or overcome a losing battle. |
I believe that at least this game should not be mixed with politics. Game rules change with time and it is unaviodable that some players benefit from it an some players have it harder.
I did not benefit from the game rules at any point more than others but still would not like to punish rich players for being rich as one day I would like to be one of them (as probably most of us :))
Also it is worth to notice here, that every tax increase the price of good that carries tax. Just look on the market - players buy items in factories and sell them on market for purchase price + tax + some profit. The tax itself is often more than estimated profit as the profit margins are often below 1%. I assume that without the tax, prices would be 0,5-1% lower. introducing 10% tax on luxury items would make those items even less tradable.
If Empire wish to decrease speculation on TGI market, it would be good idea that only players that doesnt have TG membership can bid or even that TGI is not given to inventory but the bidder automatically joins TG without getting the item itself. |

You do not need to be skilled to become a millionaire in this SIMPLE game.
Did these re-sellers doing the lords community a favour with their abundance of gold? Buy low, sell high?
Will the profit be generated due to an improved delivery of service (e.g logistics)? Quality ( e.g better or new product)? Was there any input on their side whatsoever to explain for a rise in price for their resold products? Or simply GREED?
i have played a few online games (e.g Eve Online) with a solid game economy in which you can become a trade morgul and 'own' them all with your fortune. Online games in which you can create products/consumables for the benefit of the community.
However in lordswm, these greedy resellers expect a profit for doing what exactly? |
for resellers the TGI prices are as before, 10 more TGIs in the market did not change much. The only difference is that 10m gold wandered from players pockets to empires pockets.
07-14-11 Sold item: "Thief invitation" [1/1] for 1140000 gold to xxxx
07-13-11 Received item(s): 'Thief invitation' [1/1] from xxx Transaction price: 1010000 Gold
07-13-11 Acquired item: "Thief invitation" [1/1] for 1076664 gold from Empire |

I agree. If admins want to decrease the prices of TGIs, they will have to add A LOT more TGIs for bidding. |
Do admins want to decrease the tgi price?
This high price heavily stimulates people to buy one with 80 diamonds ... |
totally agree with sven, and i repeat, 80 euros doesnt sound too much considering we play free and we ll get >1M selling TGI in the future
so plz everyone pay money so we get events and dwarves :D |
and we ll get >1M selling TGI in the future
i drink to that :D |
Do admins want to decrease the tgi price?
Maybe they want to, just a bit to be kind to non-thieves. Perhaps until it's back at 1 million. But, as you said, I'm sure they want more money so maybe they don't want to decrease the price at all. |
this is what i think
The things making tgi price higher,
1)Increasing no of players wanting to become thieves.
2)Longer time required to get a a tgi(lv2 to lv5).
3)people who own more than one tgi (eg resellers).
The things making the price less,
1)People buying it with diamonds.
2)tgi from Empire (auction).
as long as it like this the price will increase till it reaches max(80*15,000gold) |
Do you believe a democratic government is a bully and is punishing high-income earners by having higher income tax?
Off topic but my answer would be yes. I do not agree with progressive tax policies in real life. I prefer equal taxes for all regardless of income bracket. I have the same basic rights as someone who earns half as I do, why am I being taxed more? In my opinion, democracy is simply euphemism for tyranny of the majority. It just happens to be the lesser evil. The alternatives are simply more frightening.
I am not convinced that the ability to accumulate a fortune in this 'economically-simple' game due to skill...
Neither am I, actually. Nevertheless, it is one measure of strength in this game and it should be used. If this was real life with real casualties, I would oppose ruthless merchants but this is a game where we are supposed to chop each other's heads!
Did these re-sellers doing the lords community a favour with their abundance of gold? Buy low, sell high?
With regards to the thief guild, they are making sure that invitation prices don't go too low. That means people who actually donate 80 euros to become thieves don't have to worry too much about their spending. This is good in my opinion.
However in lordswm, these greedy resellers expect a profit for doing what exactly?
I don't have a problem with greedy people. It's about war and money, after all. XD |
OK my plan is this: I should wait until TGI price falls to level noted on .ru server (800k) and then buy it OR buy it now with diamonds and get to TG lvl 5 ASAP and sell it while it is still above 1,000k.
Regarding the speculation that Empire likes when TGI price is high because of demand for diamonds, the TG lvl for acquiring TGI can always change up or down to regulate the TGI price, just as central banks move interest rates up and down to shape money price ;) |
To avoid reseller's speculation on TGI, people havan't to do that:
07-13-11 Received item(s): 'Thief invitation' [1/1] from xxx Transaction price: 1010000 Gold
Since we have player selling TGI at 1kk to resellers, nothing will change. |
he sends pms to all people that are close to reaching TG5
he buys them before they even touch the market
so ofcourse it wont change |
he sends pms to all people that are close to reaching TG5
he buys them before they even touch the market
I know that, but you're not forced to accept his offer :)
I think in 10-15 days I'll reach lvl 5 and get my own TGI, I'll see what's his offer :) |

i feel it's weird that one sells TGI for 1.01M while people are bidding 1.05-1.09M. he could easily makes 50-60k more if he contacts one of those bidders. i see the guy also sells many thief arts, all below market prices too. weird. |
