in real life, yes, there are differences. Do you know how wholesalers sell? They sell in bulk, in thousands. Normal consumers can't afford that. What also matters is the fact that the normal consumer won't drive to the country- side to buy a single potato for dinner. Yes dude I agree with you, market is an important function of this game and is very convenient for many people.
But did you check the transfer log of a reseller like Vincent55 ?
I am not talking of EASILY available items, this guys is MANIPULATING rare items prices.
He is not trying to supply goods for people's convenienvce BUT if he could buy all thief cloaks, he would have and marked them UP significantly.
THis goes against the principle (my idea also) of doing business: as a MECHANISM in real life to supply goods at a fair price so that everyone can acquire without too much pain. I acknowlwdgfe the "profit" part is NECESSARY in any form of business BUT he is using his profit to FURTHER grasp power over this rare items and selling at EVEN higher price.
Now now Im am AGAIN not saying what he is doing should be banned, ALL im saying is WATCH OUT for resellers.. they are not here for you BUT your WALLET.
When you acknowlwdge there may be a problem. Then, ONLY THEN, can we start thinking of a solution and ways to prevent / control it. Thus new features in idea and suggestions? | for Takesister:

her transfer log just shows that this player knows market, and that she is good "lord of money".. or do you want to call this game just Lords of War?
btw, i don't see monopoly on TG items, and e.g. 691 gold profit is not the end of the world.

can you prove this? maybe he (although it seems it's a she) is using it to cover expenses of, let's say - switching to other faction in the future..
and it's what merchants do every day in real life.

But I partly disagree on "the principle of business is profit". As I said, business = profit, but nowadays "good business = sustainable profit" is what we DESPERATEYLY NEED.
Prove what? Didn't I tell you to check his transfer log? Its very obvious. Do i need to put in on excel for you and show you how he uses his profit to buy more rare items to further MANIPULATE the price?

yeah, that was sweet, but sadly it's too rare
look, there will always be people in bad need of instant cash. i found myself in that sort of situation a few times, and i am doing everything i can in order to avoid it again. 'cause when you need gold fast, you are willing to offer something for ridiculous price. and that's when we grocery sellers buy it. in order to make profit. 'cause we're patient.
as for monopoly, it is quite rare 'cause you can post only 3 lots at a time, you have max number of arts you can have in inventory at a time, and 'cause there are "keepers of order" on market. including me. no one likes monopoly, not even poor grocery sellers like me ;)
but if you want to warn people that they can sell their good for better price, when they need "quick cash", well, i think that they already know it. and they need us, and they like us :P

she (i still insist it's she until i have some evidence that she's actually male :P) can't manipulate the price too much, 'cause there are others who will offer it for lower price. e.g. she can't buy all TG crossbows, even if she had the money for her inventory would be full of TG bows, and i doubt she'd like that. and price of i.e. TG xbow is determened by (again) supply/demand. she can make some small profit, and i believe that these people she bought xbows from are grateful that she did, 'cause they've probably been trying to get rid of the damn thing for days.
and as i said, maybe she's trying to collect gold to switch faction or something. i started trading out there, not in order to become some mighty lord of the market, but to cover my huge expenses - TG, EG, playing 2 factions etc.
i just think you're overreacting that's all :) | this is a ridiculous topic. people dont have to buy anything they don't want to. if i want an amulet of luck but dont want to travel i will buy it for a higher price. at certain prices i will not, and just travel. but what an item is worth to ME, is up to ME. i wont buy something i dont want.
if i want to put a hunter sword up there for 10k, so be it. if someone buys it, they decided it was worth that much to them. thats no ones business but the buyer and seller.
i have said it before, the people who call it cheating are just annoyed at the fact that they dont feel like figuring out all the math to actually make a profit. call it jealousy if you must.
the people who are not in the thieves guild for whatever reason, (they dont get it, dont have the money for it, or just dont have the time for it) HATE the thieves guild. they will throw every excuse in the book out there to make thieves look like bad people. i use to hate them, but then i figured out that the reason i hate them is because i was too lazy to put in the effort and they were making more money then me. its hard to admit, but this is the basic reason people hate what they are not a part of. | To 32:

Your examble is a GH art.. thats a rather commen art.
All games were there is some sort of trading involved is like this, its just how lige is.. buying stuff and selling it more expensive ( it is also something I do)
Do the ones who sells it cheap.. nobody is forcing them, and they can get the money fast if they are in need of it. | if a character is skilled enough to resell an art for a higher price than what they bought then they should be allowed to.
It is their skill that allows that, i am sure than if any of you were able to do it than you would certainly do it.

Takes me back to the days I was buying meteorite shards for 3400 and selling for 3200. You have to learn what you are doing, you cant just take your 500 000, crush the market, buy everything, market lives his own life, resellers dont affect prices so much, they just buy things when they feel they are way underpriced. There are price oscilations anytime few players level up their TG and get the same arts or everytime 2 loaded guys buy a thief set. Traders just use these price oscilations, buy when its down, sell when its up.
its hard to admit, but this is the basic reason people hate what they are not a part of.
I guess you are right and maybe thats why I disliked those who cheated themselves up. No because some moral high ground, just because I dont do it. | aye
